Equinox is so fascinating to me

He revels in his evil-doings, but at the same time he refuses to let himself process any other emotion

Equinox doesn't really consider any other path to be a possibility for him, he doesn't even view himself as someone who can change

I can see how he has parallels with every member of Sage's crew (especially Widget) and his dynamics with them are going to be so fun to watch!

I'm very excited to see how Equinox develops in the full show!

I’d like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldn’t have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how “great” they were.

Here’s another photo of the legislative assembly from yesterday. Later on there were more items, candles and signs at the memorial, as well as a big poster with 1505 painted on it but I didn’t get a picture

People need to see this. Not just quickly glance at the photos and keep on scrolling. They need to see this.

I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.

I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.

This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.

They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my country’s attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for god’s sake.

My mom tells me how my great grandmother was literally hidden away in her house by her parents so she wouldn’t be taken away to one of these schools. It makes me nauseous to think what would have become of my world if she had been taken away. Very likely I wouldn’t exist and neither would my mom or her mom. My great grandmother got to live long enough to teach me and my sisters how to make fried bread and showed us love despite her primarily speaking Navajo and my mom translating here and there. I was so sad when she died but I’m so grateful for the memories I have of her and that she wasn’t one of the many indigenous children stolen from their home and forced to “civilize themselves”

I took a Worlds Exposition Art history class this past spring. The way these Assimilation schools were advertised as an achievement of the country and any sort of societal progress is beyond disgusting. A simple sorry for that level of racism and cruelty will never be enough.

My heart goes out to families affected by this cruel and dark time in history and I hope we are all seen and acknowledged by the opposition of the past and present

No child should be taken from their homes with the intentions of “fixing them”

The Galactic Defense Force pitch animatic is now one year old!

GDF started as this storyboard animatic, and now the fully animated pilot is releasing this fall! How time flies... (I'm so proud)

I've had this one idea for months now, which I would love to do, but I'm not sure how feasible it would be (at least for me)

I want to try translating, at least part of, the Galactic Defense Force Pitch Animatic into Chickasaw (a language that I'm trying to learn again since it's a part of my cultural heritage)

Some of the problems with this though is that

1. I don't know the language that well yet (I've gotten through some of the basics in past learning attempts, but I'm determined to not give up and eventually reach fluency)

2. Translating a sci-fi show into an old endangered language means that some words used in it might not exist yet in that language so there's a chance I might have to make new words if I can't find an existing translation

3. There are several sounds in English that aren't used in Chickasaw, so I will have to translate certain character names to be pronounceable. X, r, and g don't exist in Chickasaw (Sage, Flitter, Widget, Axel, and Equinox would all need to be given different names, almost every GDF character would need one) (I guess I don't HAVE to translate the names, I just want it to be understood well in Chickasaw)

Overall, it feels pretty out of my league right now. But I REALLY want to translate, at least part of, the pitch animatic at some point. Being able to translate it into Chickasaw well, would definitely be proof I'd gotten a good grasp on the language

GDF is our first major production and we started the Kickstarter to do it right. Now, we've secured pilot funding from an institutional backer! A relatively unknown project getting real funding? Huge win for indie animation!

With this news, the Kickstarter is cancelled, but our art book/soundtrack will come later at a better price for fans.

Is Axel blind in one eye? I wasn't sure if that was the case before, but I'm leaning towards yes now

The family photo in the short shows Apex, Axel, and Accord

It's important to note that both Accord and Axel have orange irises/pupils and yellow scleras in the photo (and the picture itself is surrounded by opening eyes)

But if you compare it to Axel now

Their right eye is completely orange

Alternatively, their tattoo on their right shoulder is the same shade of orange, so Axel might've also gotten an eye tattoo, but that feels unlikely to me since Flitter and Widget also have something up with one of their eyes (Widget only has one whereas Flitter mainly covers hers idk if she's blind in it or not but seeing through her thick hair would be difficult regardless)

Also, Axel bleaches their hair (Ngl I thought Accord was dying part of his hair red and that Axel kept their natural hair color)
