❝ —scotland ? ❞ he repeats, gaze following her movements as she walks towards the kitchen; brows arched ever so slightly in interest. a real camera crew .. they’re words that bring a smile to his lips ( GLAD that the events of el dorado didn’t ruin things for her ). hands take mug that’s offered, and he gives a quiet ‘thank you’ in return; a slight nod of his head. ❝ —no. no, no you don’t need to apologize for that. ❞ a quiet laugh follows in suit of his words; his hands giving a DISMISSIVE gesture as he shakes his head. ❝ i’m happy for you, really. i uh .. i hope that all goes over great for you ! ❞
how are you filling your time? well now that really was quite the question, wasn’t it? fingers tap amongst mug’s surface, and smile falters as brows come to furrow; a hand coming up to rub sheepishly at the back of his neck. ❝ uhh .. well, you know. the whole el dorado, cursed statue and zombies thing is gonna be pretty hard to top in terms of excitement— so i’ve just been picking up the occasional odd job here and there. ❞ anything to make a quick buck, right? ❝ been helping sully out with a few jobs of his own in my spare time, too. nothing too over the top. ❞ truth be told, though, was HE COULDN’T WAIT to get back into the grind of things ( to get back on track to finding the next LOST CITY, or perhaps another treasure lost to time ).
❝ but scotland ! ❞ he gestures towards her with a hand, smile once more returning to lips. ❝ i did a bit of work there myself a few years back. or— well. i was working with someone, but .. —how long are you planning to be gone for ? ❞
‘ I’m happy for you. ’ She can’t help but smile into her mug while she takes a small sip. ( Yep, still hot! ) He means it, she’s pretty sure — and maybe congratulating her is the least he could do after ... everything. Not that she’s holding that against him. ( Not anymore. ) “ Thanks, ” she says, then quirking her eyebrows briefly to add, “ I hope so too. ” She’s hoping for a solid win right about now, considering she’s still trying to do some extra convincing with her producers to not pull the show altogether.
Her brows raise and she smirks a little at the mention of Sully. She should have seen it coming. Because they’re inseparable, aren’t they? Sure, maybe she hasn’t known either of them very long, in the grand scheme of things — but she can’t imagine one embarking one of those those ‘ jobs ’ of theirs without the other. “ I guess someone has to be there to keep you alive when I can’t. ” It’s a small tease, nothing pejorative about it. ( She has to admit she wouldn’t be alive right now without his help — that’s not lost on her. ) “ Hope you two don’t get into too much trouble. At least not without me. ” ( Another joke. )
Elena clears her throat and lifts an ear up, tugging at her ear a little bit, as she does when she thinks. “ About a week? ” She drops her hand, cradling her mug with both again. “ We put together a whole itinerary for once — interviews, tours, B-roll filming, and, if we’re lucky, maybe some extra time to just be touristy. ” She shrugs lazily and takes another sip, just thinking about how much more caffeine she’s going to need to get through the rest of her packing ( she loves the travel ... but sometimes she’d just like to stay home ) . She puffs out a small breath of laughter : “ Shockingly, it’s a lot more organized than my old episodes. ” It’ll be different now that it’s not just her and the camera ... “ So do you like Scotland? I’ve never been. And it feels like you’ve been everywhere. ” ( All that time, one relationship down ... she’s still getting to know him ; so much more to him than meets the eye. )
