His role in life is to serve, to maintain codes of chivalry such as honor, loyalty, and generosity, as well as courtliness in the Christian faith such as charity and humility. A mounted warrior, loyal to his liege lord (boss) to be rewarded in land or monetary gain. He lives a privileged life (condo life) of social and economic benefits, but does not stand out in an army. His armor is the same as everyone else, copy-pasted from soldier to soldier. The ideals are all the same. Organized.
Tyler as a gladiator, fighting in contests of life and death with no fear. (would be less of him being in servitude like actual gladiators were, more him fascinated with the themes) Fighting to entertain to live to emerge victorious in exchange for a way out of prison and slavery (in this case, knighthood), rather than land or monetary gain. The focus is on endurance and strength, not full-plated armor and courtliness in Christendom. He rejects the idea of following organized religion and social roles of the status quo. Introduces the idea of breaking from the chivalrous regime and living for oneself as opposed to serving others even in death. Honor and courage apply differently to knights and gladiators.
"No shirt no shoes" becomes "no sword no helmet". (The sword is important later as it replaces the gun.) They can also still serve tainted food at lavish banquets (medieval style of course)
