Since Speak Now was all about my songwriting, I decided to go to the artists who I feel influenced me most powerfully as a lyricist at that time and ask them to sing on the album. The Lavender Haze video is out now. There is lots of lavender. There is lots of haze. There is my incredible costar Laith Ashley who I absolutely adored working with. This was the first video I wrote out of the 3 that have been released, and this one really helped me conceptualize the world and mood of Midnights, like a sultry sleepless 70’s fever dream. presumably anti skip technology has evolved since then and actually reliably works now (if you jolt a cd drive when it’s playing the laser reading it will also jolt around and songs will skip - not useful when walking. anti skip technology is meant to stabilise so it doesn’t happen. very rarely was this actually the fucking case)

Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. Red does has more positive connotations than negative like the @mintymaiden said. Red is associated with more love, lust, passion than blood and death just like the chart shows you but If you want, here’s a link for you to check it out yourself. I like that the presumption here is that “No One On Tumblr Has Heard of Color Theory, Let Me Explain in Depth” rather than simply acknowledging that the VISUAL EFFECTS of this particular color choice, applied in the manner it was, can still amount to “this is a hospital and that looks like blood”

like, color theory doesn’t exist in a vacuum. If your design of choice for Blood Red Paint is asymmetric splatters and sploches against the wall, or in this case, a snail trail on the hallway’s floor, an infographic won’t override the viewers’ instinct.

i feel like this is the first point in taylors career where she’s kinda done with her own fanbase and is actually standing up to them a little bit. her publicly being annoyed about the scarf jokes and saying they can stop, plus her having 2 songs on midnights that were not-so subtly suggested to be about the people in certain parts of the fanbase weaving their made up stories about what her personal life/relationship is like. actively saying they are sometimes the reason she does not feel like a person. good for her.
