Inspiration Point is not actually a mountain, itself... it is part of Blue Ridge. At 7,386' in elevation, Inspiration Point rests in a small saddle on Blue Ridge, where Highway 2 crosses from the north side of the mountain, down into the Vincent Gulch side.

Mt. Balden Powell as seen at Inspiration Point. It is the highest peak in San Gabriel Mountains with an elevation of 9,399 feet. It makes for a good trail for those who are fond and not afraid of heights. It is said that at the top of the summit is a plaque and monument erected in 1957 by the Boy Scouts of America in honor of British Army Officer and founder of the Boy Scouts movement, Lord Balden-Powell, for whom the mountain was named. Before in 1931, the mountain was known as "North Baldy".

Inspiration Point is still a part of the Los Angeles county. It is where the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) crosses Highway 2.

Mt. Baldy as seen at Wrightwood Mountains. Wrightwood is a common destination for hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and horseback riding year round. There are many hiking trails throughout the San Gabriel Mountains, only minutes up the road from the town of Wrightwood, California. During any season, Wrightwood's beautiful colors and mountainous landscape make hiking in the area an amazing outdoors experience, no matter when you go. For some of the best scenery and hiking in southern California, Wrightwood always ranks among the top.

This part of the mountain where I stood is still part of the Los Angeles county.

Occupy L.A. spotted last Nov. 23 days before the Los Angeles police successfully cleared their camp at City Hall on early Nov. 30. The LAPD managed to avoid the fierce confrontations that marred sweeps in Oakland and New York. Job well planned and done, at least...
