Ana bounced on the balls of her feet, hands clasped before her with her small bag at her feet. It wasn’t supposed to be a long journey - just a few hours away, so all she needed were a couple changes of clothes. Still, she was eager to leave with Serena - they hadn’t been on a mission just the two of them in years, and the excitement was impossible to squash.

Her head turned with other’s voice, her heels landing on the ground as she watched for her. 

“Hurry up! The train will be here soon, and I want a window seat!”

Serenea hurried down the stairs and to Ana’s side. Once there she wrapped her arm around the other in a light hug. 

“Alright. Lets get going then.” she said,starting the short walk to the train station. 

Still, Serena couldn’t help but look back at the guild one last time with worry written very clearly on her face. She wanted so badly to go on this job with Ana. But at the same time, her guild could be an honest mess without her there to try and keep it all together.

Serena stood at the front of the guild, packed and ready to go. Everything was set for her departure. Of course she was still cautious. Actually, she was nearly certain that everything would fall apart the moment she was out of town.

She would try her best not to think of it once Ana got there. And well, she could see the young woman at the foot of the stairs that lead up to the guild’s entrance.

“I’m on my way down!”

He accepted her hand, his gloved fingers curling around her in a brisk but firm handshake. A polite smile tugged at his lips as his hand fell back down to the side. The name was familiar - perhaps that new guild ( comparatively new at least ). It mostly remained under the radar, but there were a few members that piqued the public’s interest - one of them being the woman who stood before him. 

“Indeed,” he answered. “And it’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Lisan. You may call me Lahar.”

“The pleasure is all mine Lahar. Are you sure Lahar is fine? I’m sure a man like yourself has a title to add to that.”

She insisted with a gentle smile. Her hand returned the the large stack of paper that she was once again carrying. For the most part, the area around them had grown quiet. It seemed that everyone had a place to be, and for the most part they’d all found it.

“If you don’t mind, could you please help me find my way back to the street entrance? I’m afraid I’m not used to this building. and well, I may be lost.”

≪◈≫ ❝Sure!❞ The younger trotted over to where the other was sitting, surprised and happy to be invited to join the guild master. 

      ❝Are you sure you’re not busy though?❞ The girl asked, carefully sitting next to her.

Serena affectionately placed her hand on the other’s head. 

“I’ll tell you a secret.” she said, leaning in closer to the other. “I’m always busy. So I’m glad to spend time with my precious guild members. Its moments like these that keep me going.”

She looked up at the man who’d approached her. Luckily the tumble was only over two steps. She would probably have bruises from her sudden clumsiness, but apart from that she would be fine. 

“Ah, yes. Sorry about this commotion.” she said as she scrambled to pick up all the papers. She would have to put them back in order later. At least she’d finished everything at the council for that day. 

“They require quite a bit of paperwork here to keep a guild legal, don’t they?” she mused before managing to stick one hand out.

“My name is Serena Lisan, Guild Master of Espada Valkiria.”

Lily's eyes kept on wandering back to the guild master, watching the woman work from across the guild. She wasn't entirely sure why, but she felt as if there was something miss. And so, with a flick of her wrist she set a small blue crystal tiara on the other's head.

“Eh?” Serena questioned as there was suddenly a weight on her head. Her fingers reached up and slid across the delicate tiara that was now placed on her head. A smile slowly formed as she looked up and found Lily.

“Thank you! Why don’t you come over and sit with me for a bit. Won’t you Lily?”

She offered a slight smile, eyes flickering up to Serena’s face and lingering for a split second before flicking back down. A few more papers slid into piles as the strand of hair fell back in front of her face - this time to be ignored as she carefully fixed a folded corner. 

“You know, you don’t have to be here all the time. The guild can take care of itself what with -”

She paused, her mind racing with the names of her guildmates in search of someone who was even remotely responsible…unfortunately the only responsible ones were either gone or at each other’s throats. 

Ana elected to not continue that sentence. 

“What about this?” instead she leaned over, pushing a small paper directly into Serena’s line of sight. “It’s short and fairly easy…we just have to help with some…unruly plants.”

It was right up her alley, giving her an excuse to use her gift without being forced into battle. And it would be a lie to say it wasn’t satisfying to tame the wild masses of magic flowers that bloomed this time of year.

Serena couldn’t help but giggle as Ana started to reassure her about the guild. She was very aware of the mess that was her ‘children’. Really she couldn’t let herself get hurt or anything like that. She had no idea who would take over the guild master role if she weren’t there.

She got a few more jobs sorted before Ana pushed the paper over to her side of the table. She gently picked up the paper and held it up so that she could read it. it was close by and would only take a day or two. Plus, she knew how much Ana loved being around plants.

“Well, its a good job. I could probably leave tomorrow night, if that works for you of course....I should leave someone here in charge...”

“Mm…”

His arms were crossed over his chest, the charcoal jacket bunching up at his wrists as his shoulder pressed against the doorway. The day was chilly, a cold breeze sweeping in from the opened windows, but he hardly minded. Instead, he was more caught up with the rumors caught on said wind - after all, their guild wasn’t yet all that known, and he would prefer it stay that way opposed to developing a bad reputation. 

“I don’t think it’s of too much concern. More just wanted to let you know - it would, perhaps, be in your best interest to dock the payments the farmer is requests from the reward - rather than spend guild funds.”

She nodded, thinking for a moment about what’d been revealed to her. Decisions like this were troublesome but necessary.

“You’re right. I’m too easy on them sometimes aren’t I? We’ve paid for damages out of the guild’s funds far too many times. Perhaps now is the best time to start being more strict on such things.”

A soft sigh escaped her lips. “Sometimes its hard to essentially parent those who aren’t your children. I just hope that they all understand that I want what’s best for them.”

Her lips pressed together as leaned forward, slim fingers brushing over the papers to disturb the stack. Despite being a member since it first started, her knowledge of her own guild was disturbingly minimal. After all, it was much more interesting to stroll through the woods instead of socializing. 

But again, that was no excuse to turn down a request from her friend. A stray strand of pink hair was brushed behind her ear before she quickly scanned the words the in front of her, carefully plucking out a few and placing them in separate piles. 

“Have you thought about taking a job…it’s been an awfully long time…”

And it would be a lie to say she didn’t miss their times spent together in foreign cities - honing their magic ( or rather, Serena’s magic ) and exploring the world.

She set aside one of the papers, a job to be posted on the board. She was focused for the moment, but was glad to break that focus to have this conversation. To say Ana was precious to her would be an understatement.

“I think about it nearly every day. It would be nice to get out of the guild for once. But I feel as if I’m needed here too dearly. I wouldn’t want something bad to happen while I was gone.”

She sighed, now day dreaming about going on a job, like the ones she used to partake in with Ana.

“Perhaps a short job wouldn’t be too much. If you see one that would suit the two of us, point it out to me, will you?”

a slight JUMP happened in the dream mage at the sound of her name. she hadn’t even been back in the guild for 5 minutes when the older female approached her, sweeping up her hands and bombarding her with comments.

“it was fine… i think… nothing major…and thanks… “ she spoke somewhat quickly, trying to answer everything,as well as respond to all comments. “did i cover everything…?” isy asks with a small laugh

“Sorry, I do tend to get carried away with questions don’t I?” Serena mused as she let go of the others hands to cover her small laugh.

“We’re glad to have you back here at the guild. Would you like some water or tea or something?” she asked, prepared to go and get it herself if Isy requested some.

“Isy!” Serena exclaimed as she saw the younger mage entered the guild. The master approached her with grace, reaching out and taking the other’s hand.

“How was your job? They told me you did I great job, I’m so proud of you.” she said with a sweet and gentle smile. She loved the girl so much and was more and more proud of her each and every day.

“Oh dear.”

Serena pressed her fingers to her forehead as she sighed in exasperation. Sometimes the members of her guild were difficult to control, especially the younger ones.

“Thank you for bringing this to my attention.”

Her footsteps soft, the wood cool against her bare feet as she peered over the desk. Her arms were curled around her torso, the massive grey sweater hiding everything from her neck to her knees as she eyed the papers. 

A grimace tugged at her lips as her eyes immediately flicked to the window. It was such a nice day out, but she couldn’t very well walk out on Serena - someone who might as well have been her sister. 

“Sure…” she answered, moving to sit on the desk and tug her knees to her chest. “Whaddya need?”

Serena watched as the girl’s eyes looked outside the window. Wordlessly Serena pulled away half of the stack and put it into a drawer as if it belonged there.

“Nothing too much. I just need to go through these jobs and pick which ones we want to go up on the job board. Things that work well for our guild. We’ve gotten so many requests in the past year that I can only post about half of them.”

She divided up the remaining pile and slid it over. “Thank you for helping me. Maybe after we’re done we can take the guild to the beach.”

Serena couldn’t help but smile as Ana came into her office. “I hope you’re not busy today. I’m in need of some help going through all these job requests. Do you think you could spare some time to help me out?” 

Her voice was quiet and kind, her head tilted and the smile remaining. Sometimes being a guild master was a taxing job, and Serena was glad to have the help of those around her. Even after ten years of this, she just couldn’t quite handle every single job that was required of a guild master on her own.
