Howaboutbeth live at Bookslam tonight!
After leaving The Pipettes, touring with The Heavy, singing with Pink Floyd, and dancing with Chuck Berry, Beth Mburu-Bowie took a rough tumble through the other side of the looking glass where she was held captive until deemed fit to discern a voice of her own. Taking inspiration from her diverse musical background, the spirit of Queen Elizabeth I, and that time she demanded her nursemaid dress as Mary Poppins, Mburu-Bowie took on the sobriquet ‘HowAboutBeth’ and began to paint songs to toy with the boundaries of propriety and decorum. Pitched somewhere to the left of Feist, Beth's music gets us just about as excited as we get ...
Additional to the wonderful H.A.B, This month Bookslam are publishing 'One For The Trouble', their first collection of writing from Book Slam alumni. The launch party will therefore involve some dear friends of Bookslam, including DAVID NICHOLLS, LUKE WRIGHT, SOPHIE WOOLLEY. There will be good food and good music, possibly even played on vinyl records. Check!
