Another fun evening with new favorite apps. From left to right and repeating on the bottom: Original Eastern Washington lake photo loaded into #ReflectApp and #AlienSky, then over to #lensfxapp, with a quick save. Last Photo on top was first touched with #afterfocus, followed with an object from #matter and saved again. I Then brought the image into #lensdistortions to add the fog. The last three images are guest formulas from #mextures. Thank you #brainfeverapps taking me back to my teenage years. Yet another late night with work in the morning, and I'm doodling away with thought to what is important... I finding it very difficult to wait for #SkyLabApp.

70 Hours and An Infinite Amount Of Dots Later, A Stunning Realistic Portrait Is Formed

Criminologist by day and painter by night, Swedish Artist Julia Koceva has mastered the art of stippling, a painstakingly elaborate process of creating realistic artwork based on hundreds and thousands of tiny ballpoint pen dots. Armed with an enduring patience and steady hand, the artist is causing a huge stir on social media with her viral work. For a single image, she may dedicate up to 70 hours precisely filling her paper with dots. The artist has resurrected celebrity portraits, animals and nature imagery in her various art under the same challenging technique.

The exquisite detailed work in each of the images point to a thorough approach to art as well as an expert understanding of expression and character. Koceva’s work is comparable to filtered photography. The multiple layers of dots coming apart and together create the possibility of the subject not only as an existing body, but becoming undone and remade as art nurtures its growth.

Julia Koceva’s lifelike portraits up close are an intangible clump of random dots, yet as one pulls back further from the image, it assimilates into a portrait or art of a subject so stunningly uncanny and beautiful, it’s no wonder that the artist is rapidly gaining an avid fan base.
