saw your tweet, and are people actually incapable of nuance. do they think people saying akito being misogynistic in the main story means that he has to be andr*w tate's #1 fan, screaming "i hate women" or something😭😭😭 no, it just means he has views that aren't correct because, in a misogynistic society, it's unfortunately likely that he'd grow up harboring such views. he's not evil, far from it, he's supposed to be flawed because flawed characters are realistic and compelling to see change and improve😭

Bro it's insane how many replies I've had that say "well he never said he was annoyed at them because they're women" LIKE???? Do they think to be misogynistic you have to say outloud "I don't like women I think they're inferior to men"?? Like oh my god it doesn't take a genius to work out that maybe there's a reason he treats An as nothing more than Ken's daughter and is generally an asshole to Kohane (he calls her Chibi like come on it's obvious). Also the amount of comments saying "well he treated Toya the same when he said he didn't care" literally at no point in mainstory does Akito treat Toya the same as vivids, in fact he's harsher on Toya when Toya says he dgaf because it's like a personal betrayal to him. Also Toya ragebaited Akito into punching him on purpose whereas Akito's attitude towards vivids was of his own accord. He's literally just a teenage boy raised by a dad with issues and he mainly hangs out in a place with only one significant woman (an shiraishi) like ofc he acts like that in main story patriarchy sucks

I think people just view it as like. A moral failing on their part if they like a character who did something wrong 5 years ago and isn't really like that anymore because of character development. Part of what makes Akito's character development so compelling is seeing how so much of his early story characterisation is tied to his own self worth issues and him overcoming that and accepting himself for who he is. Hell not just in this fandom I've been on other fandoms where people get peeved if you like a villain because they did irredeemable things like we do realise that flaws are what make characters more interesting (not even an outright villain but this happens to prsk characters like mrs asahina as if they don't have some of the most interesting writing of any character in the game tbh). If every character was morally pure and had never done anything wrong ever things would be so boring. I think it's more of an internet age problem like people are so against the idea that people are able to grow and change. I think a lot of the people trying to deny Akito having character flaws were kids so like. It checks out I guess? You can like a character who did something bad one time it's not like you did it. Let's all go outside more.
