I’ve been seeing a lot of reactions and comments about what was shared in the Festa dinner, and it seems like a lot of people are misunderstanding a few things.
They are not disbanding, and each member had even clarified that this wasn’t the case. Please don’t compare them to western groups that underwent “hiatuses” only to get lost in their solo activities and to never come back. It’s always been different with Kpop groups. A lot of groups had undergone long breaks and hiatuses when they came around the same age as they are today and most of them have returned after that break period is over. Remember that unlike others, Kpop male stars have responsibilities that are unlike others in Western, eg. military enlistment. We’ve been hearing talks about Jin’s (and soon, Yoongi’s) enlistment hanging above our heads for quite a while, so whether or not their country finally decide they can finally enlist, this break is due to happen.
Allow them to take this time to find themselves and become the men they are meant to be. Namjoon talked about how being in a group and living under the idol culture hadn’t allowed them to mature and to feel more alive. They deserve to have this moment to get that. And remember that they are not disappearing from us. We have solo projects and lots of interesting stuff happening in the future. So even if they’re not always together, they will still be here for us, and I do believe that they will be an even stronger group once they have found what they’re looking for.
I know that the news of the break is shocking, but we’ll get through this together. As long as we keep loving and supporting them while we wait patiently for them to return as a whole, the boys will always remember that they have a “home” to return to with us.
