I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.
A.A. Milne
it’s 3 am and my fingers are flowing over the piano. the flat is quiet, I can hear my boyfriend sleeping, and through my headphones I’m silencing everything but the notes of the keys. I play the same song over and over which may seem crazy, but someone ones told me there is relief in what we know, repetition. recognition. (it was after I accidentally had listened to the same song on repeat for round about 13 hours). my reasonable mind thinks about how long I will go on for and how tired I will be tomorrow at work while my ghosts are telling me to quiet down the music and stop running away from my thoughts. but my fingers keep playing. it’s almost like they have learned not to listen. and I would rather hear the keys on repeat and repeat again than lay down in bed as a prisoner of my own head. my head is also stuck on repeat - and it’s no mozart.
death is terrifying, so instead of simply dying you decide to live in a way that is killing you slowly, while telling yourself that you are somehow immortal and will against all odds be undamaged by all the things you put yourself through. you know it is not true, and yet you still manage to convince yourself that this is not the end. you’re still here, so you did it. truth is, slowly killing yourself is also a way of ending life.
for scratches, there are bandaids.
for sadness, we got meds.
for average, there is always space.
and for the rest of us, we go to battle or we wait.
— March 8, 1912 / Franz Kafka diaries
books have amazing paragraphs, but in between such they‘re often quite shit.
people have the same characteristics.
“I hope that someday, somebody wants to hold you for twenty minutes straight, and that’s all they do. They don’t pull away. They don’t look at your face. They don’t try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms, without an ounce of selfishness in it.”
— Jenna
RIGHT?
happiness is amazing. it’s so amazing, it doesn’t matter if it’s yours or not.
