Dear friends

I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share a little about why I sometimes reach out for help.

I have been through many difficult challenges. While I was living in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, four of my friends lost their lives. Two other friends and I survived dangerous attacks, and after support for LGBTQ+ refugees came to an end, we had no choice but to leave Kenya and seek safety in South Sudan.

Sadly, life here has also been very difficult. Once people in the local community learned that we are LGBTQ+, we faced discrimination and have been unable to find work simply because of who we are. Every day is a struggle to meet even our most basic needs.

I'm sharing this not to make you feel obligated or to depend on others. I'm simply trying to survive and support the friends who are still with me in the camp while we wait for the chance to build a safer future. Some of our friends have already been able to relocate to Canada, and I continue to hope that one day our turn will come too.

We do have a fundraiser, but it hasn't been very active, and the donations we receive are often not enough to cover even our basic necessities.
