if i can ask- why did you take your animatics off of tumblr in the first place? was it a problem with people stealing them?

Yeah, especially uploading them on youtube without giving me proper credit or even asking me, and reuploading them behind my back when I confronted them about it and was assured they would take it down. If you see my stuff on any platform other than twitter and instagram on my accounts, it's stolen.

Is there ever a chance you'll re-upload the animatics you took off the platform? I only got to see 2 of them and they were really good :( I'm sorry other people were taking them without your consent, it feels like we're losing great things just cause of those jerks. Of course it's understandable if you don't want to risk that happening a second time by posting them again, I was just wondering.

Don’t ever believe the gossip rag that is Cartoon Brew. A lot of people actually working in animation can’t stand them, because they simply do not report on an accurate representation of the industry. This tweet was torn appart by a multitude of industry people on twitter, including ones working at CN. I work at CN. It’s a restructure, not a murder. CNS will keep on doing new and original animated content (currently working on one), WB will focus on existing IP.

Was made aware of even more videos being uploaded without my consent, even one got re-uploaded after I talked to the reposter and assured me they took it down. This kind of disgusting behavior is unacceptable and I won't be posting any other Rise animatic. I pulled the videos off tumblr too.

Listen, I understand that most of the fans are kids, or YA. So, it's mostly that you guys don't know better. You see something you like, you take it, save it, and share it. But from our end, the creators, this ain't a good feeling. We work hard for what we create, and this feels like it's being stolen, the attention and recognition doesn't go to us.

Reposting, esp without giving credit, is widely frowned upon.

Don't do this, its the people who work hard for the stuff you like that you are hurting

Out of curiosity, how were scenes divided up for the film? Did each board artist have to take a pass at boarding the entire script, or was it more of a "You take scenes A, B, and C, and you take D,E,F."

when we get the script we each get assigned a scene, usually based on our respective strong suits (comedy, action, drama, acting etc). But most of the time the script gets rewritten, so we do note passes on already existing scenes made by other story artists. not a lot of untouched scenes in the final version. What we ended up with was a huge frankenboard, and we have to try our best to make it work.

I've never really watched the series, so when I saw the movie pop up I thought "eh, why not, I'll give it a go for old time's sake". And oh. my. god. I was NEVER expecting such quality animation, designs and story-boarding! Thank you for making and sharing these awesome animations on your tumblr. I can't wait to see the rest of your work. Your art-style is hella inspiring, and the pallets you use are *chef's kiss*!
