Sofia could only stand silent in response to what the tall man had said. Weeks prior he had said something similar to this but, that was weeks ago. She never expected his feelings to last after she left.
She struggled to find the correct words, or even how she felt in response, she just stared, wide eyed.
“S-Sofia…” Crap he shouldn’t have said anything. He should have kept his mouth shut. He just have just let it go away, yet he still continued.
“I-I’ve just never met anyone like you! You’re so interesting a-and I’m not just talking about the whole speech thing! You’re educated, your talented a-and I really wanted to see you again…. I mean… I-if you’re okay with it and stuff… Do you want to go somewhere again..”
“Since its you know.. Thanks giving.. I got you a chocolate cake. I don’t know if you like them but i-it’s tradition!”
The poor man was stuttering so much she could hardly understand what he was trying to say to her. Slowly she translated his words. He thought she was interesting and educated apparently.
She nodded, not sure if it was about going out or the cake. She had completely forgotten about thanksgiving, just like every year.
His eyes lit up and his heart skipped a beat. He handed her the cake, hoping that she’d like it, or at least wouldn’t throw it out in front of him. “Where do you want to go? I’ll take you anywhere you like!”
It was happening. He was finally going on a second date with her. “We could go to dinner, or to the beach! It’s quite warm today so it shouldn’t be a problem!” Of course he was running his mouth without letting her speak, which he became aware of and quickly hushed himself.
The look on his face absolutley warmed her heart, his eyes were bright with excitement and his smile fit. She still had no idea what to do or say but she decided just anything would make him happy.
“NOWHERE works for me.” She smiled, accepting the well decorated cake. She wasn’t sure if he had made it or bought it but it was impressive either way.
“.. That’s means anywhere right! Um… Why don’t we go to the beach then! There’s a restaurant close to the shore so we could go there after!” He was beaming ear to ear.
They walked slowly, Trent still trying to process that she had actually said yes to being his sweetheart for the day. “So, have you done any drawings since? I still have the one you gave me!”
“I-I HAVEN’T BEEN DRAWING AT ALL actually… I’m afraid I don’t have anything with me though…” She sighed and stare down at the small box in her hands. She was fond of cakes but the decorations were so cute she almost didn’t want to eat it.
She soon noticed his wide smile and tried to match, not sure whether or not she was met with success. His smile was sweeter than she remembered from the last time they’d met.
“Haven’t been.. Oh! Well that’s good though! I mean drawing a lot!… I don’t know a lot about drawing as I’m sure you know!” He smiled as he watched her look down at the cake. Thanks giving had been a success so far!
They finally reached the beach and now Trent wasn’t sure what to do. “Uh…. Wanna go down to the water?” He pulled his coat and shoes off, leaving them on the wooden planks that introduced people onto the beach. They should be safe there, at least as long as they stayed on the beach!
She only made a slight noise and nodded as she stared up at the approaching beach. The water was a beautiful clear blue color, just like she had hoped.
Before she knew it they were right at the edge of the boardwalk and he was taking off his shoes. She stood awkwardly, knowing she couldn't reach down and remove her boots and her socks without fumbling and tripping but also not wanting to sit and get her dress dirty.
