âShit.â Kinley mutters this under her breath, entirely to herself, and then casts her gaze over the people scattered about the little tea shop in which she works. Sheâs not actually on duty right now, but this is one of the quieter places for her to do her writing, and therefore she usually ends up settling here more often than not. âHey,â She addresses someone, attempting to catch their attention by raising her voice a bit, âyou mind answering a question for me?â Sheâs going somewhere with this, most likely.
itâs once in a blue moon that sofia has her lunch break outside of the gallery, though today she simply could not last another second in her office without irritation rising to the surface. with paperwork coming out of her ears and meetings being held left right and centre, she concludes that a peaceful place to sit for an hour (or more if she so wishes) would bring her back to serenity. her index finger taps against her mug mindlessly, her gaze lifting once sheâs addressed and a snicker coincides. âand what would this question be, love?â
edenwaverly.
âis he really orange?â eden remarks dubiously, trying to picture the way the new president of the âfree worldâ looks based on common description. âhow orange? capri-sun orange or made in chelsea orange?â
âoh heâs orange alright.â she starts off with a scoff, now contemplating the best way to describe the man running the united states. âthat asshole looks like someoneâs dipped him in a bag of cheetos flavouring thatâs stained his skin and then gotten a hideous, badly done spray tan to try and cover up the colour but it just made it worse. so really heâs a fake, crusty, borderline oomba lomba or to put it nicely, a dark shade of capri-sun.â
fameborn.
in all honesty, sofiaâs presence somewhat unnerved herâ not that she disliked her, by any means, only that the air of superiority she gave off made dorothy feel awkward, unrefined. âwine? ahaha, yeah, wasnât something i really⌠thought of, anyways.â she licks her lips, reaching into the basket and pulling out one of the jam sandwiches. âi mean, i just think the graffiti here is really nice. like, i get that itâs not the best art around, but it just stands out to me as an underappreciated art form. itâs vandalism, i guess, but i think maybe if the artists focused their efforts onto their own canvasses, thereâd be less of a stigma? oh, but then it wouldnât be graffiti, then, just reminiscent of the style. is there something youâve got against the skate part?âÂ
when the conversation turns to art, sofia becomes more alert and actually takes in what she has to say. thereâs still a tinge of distaste for the skatepark in the way she holds herself whilst sitting next to dorothy, but itâs easy to see sheâs capturing her attention. while sheâs rambling, sofia is subtly taking note of the graffiti covering the cement and it would be a lie to say the work wasnât any good. theyâre very good actually. âthe graffiti is nice, and some of it is really good, i agree. and technically it is vandalism, but i doubt most of these artists are out to purposely damage the grounds you know? theyâre expressing themselves, and i encourage it. i honestly just think that riding a skateboard or scooter around a cement park doing tricks is boring. itâs cool if you can do tricks, but itâs not something that i have ever found an interest in. is the art the only thing that draws you here?â
â NOW, Iâm all for not judging people on the tattoos they get, but I gotta draw the line at what I saw in my shop today. Okay, so picture this. The ORIGINAL Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony. Got it in your head? Good, great. Now, imagine sheâs sucking Patrick Stumpâs dick. Yeah. I actually had to tattoo that onto somebodyâs FOREARM. Anyways, Iâm sure youâve had a better day than I did, so please. Tell me about it before I bleach my eyes. â
the mere thought of this tattoo has sofia cringing; she simply cannot comprehend why someone would want such a image on their forearm. âiâm glad that you were the one that had to take part in that. i donât think i would have been able to hold my opinion back. itâs their body, they can get what they want but.... shit, thatâs bad. my day was nowhere near as eventful as yours and was actually quite dull, though itâs fair to say it was better. i would chose sorting paperwork than having to tattoo that any day.â
âIâve been really wrong about a lot. But I was right about one thing. To get you into my life, to be around you. To love you.â
fameborn.
âno, no, listen, this is a great idea.â in her arms is a picnic basket, with a red-and-white checkered blanket draped over top. surprisingly (or perhaps not?) her arms do not buckle beneath the weight of jam sandwiches with the crusts cut off, and popcorn still slightly warm in little plastic baggies. was highrise skate park the most conventional spot for a picnic? well, no, but to dorothy, the grinding background noise was something she could indulge in. âcome on, sit, sit! thereâs plenty here, and iâve even got apple juice boxes. iâve practically been waiting for this for forever.â with that, she takes the blanket off the basket, shaking it out and placing it on the ground.
sofia is the last person you would find at the skatepark; watching the youth skate around a park doing tricks for hours on end is not something she labels interesting but each to their own. was having a picnic at the skatepark going to make her change her mind? probably not. nevertheless, sheâs here attempting to rid of her pessimistic opinion on the skatepark with dorothy. maybe this could be a good get to know you experience, not that sofiaâs going to open up very much. âthis would have been a hell of a lot better with a bottle of wine but i guess i can deal with apple juice. what made you juice this place anyway?â sheâs questioning as she helps straighten out the picnic rug, taking a seat with her legs crossed and her feet tucking under her opposite knees.

Honestly, Noah was happy that Christmas and New Years Eve were over and done with. It wasnât that he wasnât a fan of either of them, it was just that this year had sucked more than usual as he hadnât been able to go home and see Thalia, his baby sister, who was back home in the US with their Dad. He hadnât been able to get time off work, nor had the other two Edwards family members been able to get plane tickets that didnât cost a fortune. So, he had spent his Christmas down at the local homeless shelter, helping out there as much as he could, with cooking up food and making sure everyone got some new clothes for the cold month that was waiting outside of the door. Desperately needing a break, Noah told his friend in the kitchen that heâd be outside for a smoke, and if he was needed, that was where heâd be for the next fifteen minutes. Taking his jacket, he threw it onto his shoulders and made his way to the back of the diner.Â
As he exited the building, he walked down the staircase and sat at the bottom of him. Pulling out his cigarette box, he pulled one out and put it in-between his lips before pushing the box back into the large pocket on his jacket. After lighting it, he took a deep drag and sighed contently as he closed his eyes and moved one of his hands to rub the area in-between his eyes. Noah would be lying if he said he wasnât tired - it had been a couple of stressful weeks and he also hadnât been sleeping well lately, with a lot of nightmares waking him up in the middle of the night and making it impossible to fall back asleep. Feeling the hair in the back of his neck stand up, he lifted his head and turned his head towards the open space. âI can hear you, you knowâŚâÂ
after getting rid of her new years hangover, sofia makes the decision to raid her closet and do a clean out to start the year out fresh. anything that she hadnât worn in the past two years, she places into large garbage bags to give away to her friends. yet one of her resolutions was not to let things go to waste. it isnât every day that sofia feels charitable, yet today sheâs feeling rather generous and decides that her old clothes could go to people that actually need them. considering she really has only ever been to the homeless shelter a handful of times since arriving in brighton, she has to look up the directions to it so she doesnât get lost; how sad. actually being there and seeing all of the homeless people made her come back to earth a little and realise that there are more people out there in need than she actually thought.Â
after going around to the people and individually offering them some of her clothes that she hopes will fit them, she comes to the point where it hits her that sometimes life truly sucks for some people and that her life could be much worse than it is right now. then the feeling of guilt starts to settle in, something that she feels only rarely and it brings on a whirl wind of thoughts that she does not want right now. really, all she wants is a cigarette. exiting the back way of the center, she notices the person at the bottom of the stairs and was going to simply walk past him before she speaks. sheâs about to sass him when she notices the cigarette in between his fingertips and sheâs swiftly thinking of a way to get her own way and thatâs get a smoke. âi should have made my presence known earlier, my apologies. but, listen, do you mind if i pinch a smoke? i thought i was just donating my clothes but realised i had given my smokes away too, my bad.â liar, but he doesnât have to know that. Â

â did you know that we actually live like 80 MILLISECONDS in the past? because thatâs how long it takes our brains to process information. so, basically, our bodies are in the present while our brains are in the past. so sometimes you just gotta think â is time even r e a l? or do you think itâs just a construct that helps us understand the complexity of the UNIVERSE? pretty rad and fascinating stuff if you ask me.â venus rambled into her phone with her telescope in tow. with her head full of plans to stargaze and wondering where to set up, she didnât notice the telescope accidentally bumping someone, âoh my gods, i gotta go. i just BUMPED into someone!â she said speedily into the phone before rushing to help. â are you alright? iâm so s o r r y; i totally shouldâve been paying more attention. â
she can hear the other talking into her phone, something about milliseconds and how brains are in the past though sofia is simply too hungover to give a damn about what sheâs actually saying. in fact, her head hurts more actually thinking about it. all she cares about is moving past this person without being noticed though alas her wishes are not being granted. whilst sheâs attempting to dodge the telescope that is coming her way, it hits her anyway and she muffles out a small groan. now sheâs caught the attention of the other person; great. lifting her leg up to feel over the sore sport where the telescope hit, knowing that itâs going to bruise in ten minutes stat. her head hurts too much to turn and give them a mouthful, so sheâs raising her hand and waving it in front of her body to gesture that itâs alright. âitâs fine, donât touch me. iâll be fine. can you perhaps pay attention to where youâre going next time? imagine if that was a kid.â
kaileigh.
Kai laughed softly, placing the few books she had picked up back onto the shelf, looking over at the girl standing next to her,âI wonât deny trying to get your attention,â Kai grinned slightly. She was still pretty embarrassed, but she was used to being a total clutz when she wasnât swimming. It was hard to believe such a graceful swimmer could be so horribly bad at something as simple as moving out of the way.
Not knowing what to say next, Kaileigh glanced down at the few books in the womanâs hand and nodded at the book,âYou know, Robert Frost is an amazing poet.âShe paused, âIf you havenât read his poetry, I definitely recommend it.â She smiled, Frost was one of her favorite poets, and she could read his work over and over again without being bored. âBut if youâre not a big poet fan, I would recommend Stephen King, his stuff is pretty long, but no one can beat his writing, he never misses a detail.â Kai bit her lip, realizing she was rambling, and this girl probably was not interested in finding out what writers a complete stranger liked to read.
sofia gives the handful of books in her hands a glance before her gazes rises back to the other woman. she listens, respects her opinion and secretly sheâs a little grateful for it. stephen king is a name that is familiar to her and she even recalls reading one of his books. âi can agree with you and say iâve read one of stephen kingâs books back in high school; i believe it was misery. canât say i remember much of it but from what i do remember it was a very detailed book. i might give robert frost a go though.â she voices with a delicate nod of her head, rising to her feet and she begins to place the books alphabetically back in line on the shelf. in a way she doesnât want the conversation to continue because well, she was here to get books not spark up conversation with a random stranger. either way, sheâs offering them a slightly pulled grin - you could hardly tell it had a tinge of force behind it - and continuing against her best wishes. âi know you donât work here but what other poets would you suggest i read?â

kaileigh.
Kaileigh pulled her jacket on, being careful not to spill the coffee in her right hand as she swung the door open to leave the coffee shop, cold air smacking her in the face, causing her to squint her eyes the slightest bit. She hated this weather, and it always brought her mood down whenever she stepped outside in the brisk air. She tucked a few strands of her blonde hair behind her ear and sucked in a deep sigh before beginning to walk to page turners.
The weather had been keeping her inside lately, besides the fact that she normally preferred to keep to herself, but she needed to force herself out of the house today, mostly because she had ran out of books to read. She had finally made it to the book store, gazing around as she stepped inside, unzipping her jacket and sipping her coffee. She then began to walk down the first aisle of books, gently running her fingers along the binding of each book. She found herself eventually in the poetry section (shocker there), and began to look for something good to read. She heard footsteps coming toward her and stepped aside when they got closer, blue eyes looking up toward the person.âSorry.âShe mumbled, leaning against the bookcase to move out of their way. She wasnât exactly the best about being social, but sometimes she had wished she had been. It was only then that she had realized leaning against the bookshelf wasnât a good idea, because a few of the books fell off the shelf and clattered to the floor. âFuck.âShe muttered, bending over to begin picking them all up. Smooth, Kai.
after not having enough time to go to manchester to visit her father and step mother for christmas, sofia is attempting to find something to fill in the time that she now has on her hands. also, she needs a distraction. missing her father tends to swallow her up and consumer her and sheâs trying to prevent that from happening. one she had gotten off the phone to him, she decides that perhaps reading will give her something else to think about. itâs not very often that sofia gets time to simply sit down and read a book in peace; if she does have to read a book itâs usually for her job and she is incredibly rushed. with a cup of hot coffee between her hands she begins to journey through the aisle in search for something intriguing, something that will reel her in and not want to put it down. in that case, maybe she should be looking for a few books.
as she approaches the poetry section she acknowledges the person in the least degree, offering them a polite smile and a gracious nod of her head when they lean against the bookcase to give her room. she gets a little bit embarrassed when they knock the books to the floor, though she simply cannot walk away when a scene has been made. besides, sheâs not that awful. âhere,â she murmurs, kneeling down to begin helping the woman with the fallen books on the floor. âi think itâs safe to say that the shelves here arenât as sturdy as they should be.â she attempts to make light of the situation, coffee in one hand and a bunch of books sheâs never heard of in the other. âyou just wanted to capture my attention, didnât you?â of course she brings out the teasing, flirting nature thatâs become her trademark to many.
