Thought of the day:

I’ve realized lately that, weirdly enough, you feel almost closer to characters you love when you’re writing/drawing them yourself. It’s like your brain suddenly lets the character move into the attic with all the rest of your emotional support hallucinations.

I don’t have the mental bandwidth to unpack all the psychology there. It really highlights how absurdly rich our internal lives are. You never know what masterpieces are hiding in the room with you. Half the time, you don’t even know the ones living within your own mind until you put pen to paper at 1:17am (okay, stylus to screen but that doesn’t read as well).

I’ve been so busy lately I’ve barely had time to draw. Quick Narlie sketch because the epilogue has me in my feelings. Heartstopper is an entire masterpiece and I can’t believe it’s over.

Charlie: Nooooo 😩 will you ever let that go?

Nick: Never. I will never, ever not think about that when I’m in the shower.

“Charlie… turns the radio on and continues scrolling through his phone, probably through Tumblr, his knees bent and his feet on the seat. Honestly, it’s a beautiful day. Blue skies all round, reflecting off town windows and cars. I roll my window down and turn up the radio, and then I take my disposable camera out of my pocket and quickly take a picture of Charlie, his face all sunlit, his dark hair being blown about by the wind, his body curled up on the passenger seat.

He looks at me instantly, but he’s smiling. “Nick!”

I grin and look back at the road. “Don’t mind me.”

“At least give me some warning.”
