like misha collins in season 4 was making too much eye contact or not enough eye contact, wasn’t blinking and stood too close to the person he was shooting the scene with (which happened to be jensen ackles for most of the early episodes) because he was trying to portray an ancient cosmic entity the size of the chrysler building who is beyond human comprehension and possessing a human body for presumably the first time. it wasn’t meant to be gay necessarily, it was supposed to be a creature not quite grasping the subtleties of human interaction and it read as gay because that’s what happens when you stand so close you can track pupil dilation. jensen ackles, however, responded to this acting choice by nervously licking his lips and staring at his coworker’s mouth and swallowing a lot and there is no excuse for this because both he and dean winchester are human beings who know what a boner is. no excuse.

everyone on this post who is like hashtag heller queen jackles this is proof of the jackles longcon has fundamentally misunderstood me. the point is that misha collins was the only one making conscious acting decisions here. jensen was, at best, being puppeteered by a repressed bisexual ghost named dean. at worst he was extremely bad at acting intimidated and just came across as uncomfortably horny the entire time. either way the end result is the same

"I was really obsessed with this Romeo and Juliet ending, actually. We shot both; we shot this ending that you see in the movie, and we shot the ending where she ends it all. We had shot a ton of different versions of the official ending, the one that's in the script, the one that I was excited about, and I was like, Okay, we'll do one ending where Nikki survives, but we'll just do one take of it, and then we'll move on. You see her coming to this realization that she's alive again, and she's looking around the room, and she looks so disturbed, and I just remember my dad and multiple people around me being like, 'Dude, I think it's way more disturbing if she just survives this thing.' I was like, 'Ah, you're right.' And so we switched it." – Curry Barker

"We played with this idea of, is she fully seeing through her own eyes what's happening and doesn't feel in control, or if it's kind of like teleportation where every time that she pops back in, it's from the moment that she popped back in before, which is why whenever she's in the house, she comes out and she's like, 'Wait, where am I?’ So we played with both of them, and now that I've watched the film back, I think that she does both. I think that in the very beginning, whenever she doesn't understand what's going on, she's teleporting, and once she realizes what's going on, Nikki’s a fighter, and so her urge to fight the wish just gets bigger and bigger and bigger, and that’s why she has the grief at the end, because she's watched it happen. nikki begging bear to kill her and all he does is ask whats so bad about being with him. one of the most nauseating scenes ive ever witnessed

there’s something so gutwrenching about the fact that the female characters in obsession have real dreams and wishes but never get the chance to see them realized, while both male characters waste their wishes on short-term selfish satisfaction. they were complex, free-spirited young women who just wanted to create art, and they were destroyed by a man determined to confine them to his superficial perception of them. nikki wanted to be a writer, sarah wanted to be a tattoo artist and now neither of them will get to be anything at all
