adventures of mint: day one
march 5th, 2020
--
in my town, there is a small abandoned soda factory that all the kids know about. it's become a tradition to explore it at least once.
now it's my turn.
ever since i moved here, my friends have told me tales about the factory. the apparently satanic writing on the walls, the animal bones, how most of the building has been eaten away by kudzu but you can still access the roof and look over a small section of the town.
and i've always felt drawn to it.
drawn to a place i'd never been before, it was a silly thought. but now that i have the ability to finally go there, with my friend no less, i can hardly contain myself. time is moving at a snail's pace and it's taking every ounce of self control in my body not to run out of the main doors of my school and walk there.
all i have to do is survive for a few more hours, and i'll be able to be as free as i like to explore wherever.
and this isn't the only place.
they're everywhere.
dozens of houses and buildings, abandoned by their owners and left to rot, with nobody caring about the past behind them and the future soon to destroy them, all places in time with memories of those before us lingering in the very bricks that compose the structure.
bandaids, markers, candy, coffee, the company of my friend.
i'm ready.
i've never been more excited for a rainy day.

Update:
it was lovely, you guys. as far as satanic writing, it was nothing more than some pranks by local gangs, but the view from the windows was breathtaking, how everything was so soft after the rain.
this is the only good picture i could get, of the rain damaged roof, but i'm going back on monday with a bunch of friends so i hope i can get more <3
