PHANTOM OF THE OPERA #19 Posters of Paris
A nice break from doing bunch of paintings and drawings! Posters are mainly inspired by Mucha, Jules Chéret and other artists from similar time period.
A little “Baman Piderman” fanart. HIghly recommend these shorts series if you like something weird and cute.
And a big big thank you to my 50K followers!
Bernini - The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa
“The pain was so great, that it made me moan; and yet so surpassing was the sweetness of this excessive pain, that I could not wish to be rid of it. The soul is satisfied now with nothing less than God.” - The Life of Teresa of Jesus
Listen, I don’t get to whip out my brief knowledge of Art History very often but let me tell you why this statue is absolute magic. The lighting used for this photo is not great. There was no such thing as flood lights in 1647, so obvs the only light in the church was whatever sunshine was cast through the windows, and natural light was often compared to “The Divine Light”. So above the statue is a well hidden copper dome with a window that creates a “Holy Spotlight”, if you will. Combine that with the intricate bronze rays that flank the statue and you’ve got yourself the most convincing depiction of Heavenly Light this side a’ Italy. No one knew where it was coming from, and you couldn’t get close enough to the statue to see the dome.
But the real majesty of the piece is that the pillar it sits on is quite small, not meant to be noticed, right? Except with Bernini’s lighting set up you couldn’t see it at all. The base of the statue was completely hidden in shadow and it made the whole piece appear as though it were floating.
Tl;Dr Bernini carved this gorgeous, massive statue and then made it fuckin’ hover five feet off the floor.
Some character concepts for my next comicbook Persephone. I’ll introduce all of them to you one by one… LATER.

Arrivals This is the second animation I made for AirBnB last year. The starting concept for this piece was the frustration and discomfort of travel. We settled on the image of a person waiting infinitely for their bag on the airport luggage carousel. Oof. We’ve all been there!
Has this been done yet?
