☆ Author's Note: Okay okay okay, first blurb posted - I think I've finally figured out this Tumblr thing (it only took a year).

⋆ The god's newest pick doesn't really know anything about ancient Egyptian gods - they had a phase during middle school where they were obsessed with Egyptian rulers, but the religion was never their strong suit.

⋆ (Maybe to make this extra funny, they have an interest in European art or sumth like that, in which the moon is def a symbol of femininity)

⋆ So when they're approached by this deity of the moon (I'm thinking in some rather rough circumstances, maybe not as dire as Marc's, but still a near death experience - maybe at their own hand after a series of disasters in their life - their soul hopelessly looking for direction, calling out to anything that could hear it), they ASSUME it's a goddess. Because, duh! moon = WOMAN!

⋆ So they're majorly confused when they start reading up on their patron and all of the books and websites and exhibits refer to Khonshu as a GOD.

⋆ The avatar def thinks it's like some ancient misogyny that's carried through the last few millennia ("Ugh, that's actually so fucked up - I mean, what, just because Khonshu has a deep voice and a boxier frame means that she's a MAN? What a crock of shit."), and BRINGS IT UP to Khonshu. Probably asks something along the lines of "Did you know about this? I mean, I assume you did, but should I be correcting it???" While gesturing to the title of a Britannica article on their phone titled Khonshu: Egyptian God of the Ancient Moon. And Khonshu is just absolutely fucking perplexed, because... what???

⋆ So his latest avatar (which he's seriously about to reconsider because what is his foolish mortal talking about) has to be like "Every article I read about you refers to you as a man, does that bother you at all? I mean, I get in ancient times being a man meant having more respect and power and whatever but surely people still would have respected their own goddess, no?"

⋆ And Khonshu is still confused but in the fondly amused way that loved ones are with like, toddlers - shaking his head gently as he laughs that deep, slightly condescending rumble and corrects, "I am a god, little scarab. Not a goddess."

"What- but... ... really?" The bird can't hide the smile in his echoing voice. "I am the *god* of the Moon, I thought you knew this." He sounds endlessly amused.

"But the Moon is usually depicted as... well, a goddess." You try to clarify

"Not in Egypt, not where they believe in my existence. Faith brings me power."

"Thus the avatars... right.." You muse, tapping your hands together before looking back at the god "Soo... are the greek gods super strong cus all the... media we make about their stories??"

Khonshu audibly grumbles at the comparison. "They have no need to interfere with the world, no sense of justice," "So they are-"

First of all, you don’t have to worry about me mutating into an anti, i have no desire to sow misery!

As for explanation, I’m really sensitive to antiblackness. I live in a racist country that piles ailments on me. If I’m choosing to give time, money, care, n love in a space, I NEED to know the space condemns antiblackness. It’s a priority for my health and wellness

If a concern for antiblackness has not been addressed and condemned, I don’t feel secure in the space.

And I have not seen messages in this space that reassure me, which has since taken the wind out of my sails

Also, the lens of how I analyzed the media was under an impression that the material is written through a carefully considered intersectional, queer perspective. This was the main selling point for me personally, but I’m not certain if my perception was accurate

Which is ok btw! The artists should be able to do as they please, it is art! And I don’t mind being wrong about something lol, that’s life. It could be that my first impression is actually correct, but the uncertainty is too troublesome for me to contend with

So, I haven’t been inspired to draw anything. All I do is seek joy in my time off of work. If I can’t find it in one place, I try to find it elsewhere. Simple as that. Honestly, idk for sure if that loss of enthusiasm is permanent, I just know how I feel now.

And my heart doesn’t beat the way it used to.

Thank you to all the kind people who have shown my fanart love over the years! And I hope everyone continues to have fun! I hope Spindlehorse continues to make queer art that can thrive. I know the Hellaverse is such a special place, and a project filled with love and talent.

N I won’t delete anything so don’t worry if u wanted to see any of the fanart I’ve made. Everything I’ve done was done with love, so I don’t regret a thing 💝 This can be an archive ☺️ I also made xfolios recently, some of my faves are collected in an orderly fashion there.
