                 â Oh. â
That was hardly a response you were expecting. Words had slipped & tumbled out of your mouth without you so much as batting an eye. Practically no different than merely reciting a previously read article â facts you were quite familiar with. And here she is, clinging to every syllable that drops from from your mouth, as if every word spoken is more valuable than the last. What a peculiar woman, you find yourself thinking âfore you toss the internal comment aside; she had her interests, and you had your own. It wasnât right to think she was strange company when many thought the same of you. Your lips press a firm line, and your brow furrows with a thought; she requests (quite so eagerly) for you to continue with your impromptu lesson as a way to assist her in understanding Kalos as a whole.
â Itâs, uh, more of a hobby than an occupation,       mademoiselle. Iâm a florist before anything, and       by no means am I an expert in our history. â
               â .  .  . â
That said, you both had very similar interests. While you did not actively seek out knowledge on the hows and whys for your preferred partners came to live in the region you called your home, you could certainly appreciate understanding the background which brought PokĂŠmon and humans together. She poses a fine opportunity to broaden your grasp of what was a passing fancy you were oft too busy to pursue, and curiosity was a dreadful thing to put to waste. You shift your weight from one leg to the next â itâs truly a tempting offer.
â But, I admit â Iâm interested in learning more       of the adaptions PokĂŠmon make to survive in the       regions theyâre found in. Some species have       different appearances and attributes depending on       any number of factors in their environment.       Breeding, habitat, weather â that sort of thing. â
A tempting offer of which you were unsure if you should seize while it existed. A chance to delve into the more subtle means of evolution that PokĂŠmon possessed â you would be a fool to ignore it when presented.
â ⌠Iâll spare what I know, though.               It will be a good start, non  ? â
â âż âż
Her heart dropped a bit when he mentioned that his knowledge on the matter didnât go any deeper, yet she continued to clutch her notebook with great excitement. Expert or not, it was still more than she had ever known! The Kalos region wasnât particularly talked about much back home in Orre, and by no means were there many books on the colorful regionâs ecology and history at the ready where she lived currently in Johto.
âOh, uh, yes! Yes, a good start! I-Iâm sorry, in all this, I forgot to introduce myself.âÂ
Looking around nervously for a place to set down the potted plant, she rested it on a small stand nearby, tucking the notebook under one arm while she extended the other outwards.
âMy name is Dr. Poplar Zahi, and Iâm a botanist who is currently researching Pokemon ecology. Wait, uh, I-I think I might have already mentioned that. Drat.â
He had to admit, this was pretty awkward. No one just âhelpsâ a Rocket, not unless theyâre that much of a goody-two-shoes⌠She didnât seem to be that type. The doctor might be oblivious to the uniform and itâs meaning⌠Perhaps that is for the better. He followed her poke-assistant slowly, not wanting to rush or accidentally bump into the dino. This place, now that he got a minute to observe his surroundings, was quite cozy. An inviting environment⌠Especially with a calming pet helping along the way. He took a seat as requested, patting her bayleef quietly and watched the doctor walk in with cooling compresses. Danny shrugged his shoulders, cocking his head to the right and spoke quietly. âI dunno about the rest of my body⌠I might have gotten some burns on my chest, but thats about it. I uhh⌠Have to thank ya for the help. I ainât used to this kinda thing from people.â
â âż âż
âO-Oh, no, itâs fine, really. Iâm used to doing this sort of thing, actually. I used to be an herbalist back home and acted as the community doctor, in a way. Itâs not trouble at all.â
Gingerly, she applied a pale green poultice to a strip of gauze and applied the large patch to his chin, which seemed to have received the worst of the burns. She then carefully applied two strips of medical tape over the gauze in order to hold it in place.
"Alright. Other than your chin, your face doesnât seem to be as badly burnt as it initially appeared. How does the rest of you feel? You mentioned burns on your chest; would you care to have those bandaged?â
Prim â peachy, cheery and lovely Prim â your doting partner whom youâve had the greatest pleasure in meeting when she was nothing more than a tiny Petlil. The friend who has come to assist you in caring for your little florist parlor (and, the subsequent garden around it) â yes, Prim was truly a marvelous specimen of  loyalty and beauty. From the painted petals of the flower on her crown to the darker, wider leaves which make her arms; she was your pride and joy.
â Lilligant themselves arenât common in Kalos,      but Petlil are spotted on Route 4 â just around the corner,      actually. Itâs through an impressive garden, so Iâm not      surprised to see the varying species of Grass-types. I once      did some research after I had met Prim, since I had gotten      interested â almost all of the floral PokĂŠmon in Kalos arenât      actually native to the region at all. Itâs a little ambiguous in      specific detail, but thereâs a lot of evidence suggesting that,      with the discovery of other regions and overseas trade routes      being forged between them, came the trade of PokĂŠmon.      Hence how non-aquatic PokĂŠmon have come to settle outside      of their native regions, such as Budew and â â
Eliwood. Youâre getting off track. Like, way off track. The second someone opens their mouth with an opportunity for you to prattle on about whatever held your fascination, you always managed to take it. Real classy, buddy.
     â I. Iâm sorry, now Iâm rambling â ah, anyway â â
â Kalosâ climate does show to be fantastique for      PokĂŠmon like Lilligant. The problem is, theyâre not exactly      what I would recommend for inexperienced trainers.      Granted, itâs easier once you identify the flower they bloom,      but itâs a very tedious process to keep it from withering.  â
â âż âż
Her eyes widen with fascination as the man proceeded to essentially give her a very detailed lecture on Kalosian ecology, her fingers instinctively reach for the notebook in her side satchel in order to swiftly jot down every word.
âThatâs... thatâs incredible! Y-you really donât have to stop though! Really! Please, f-feel free to ramble on as you please!âÂ
She winced, afraid she had sounded too pleading and desperate just then. Nice one, Poplar.
âI-I, uh, actually love hearing of this sort of thing... Iâm a botanist myself, and currently, Iâm researching the relationship between Pokemon and their environment. I normally travel from region to region to gain information on local flora, but seeing how important certain plants are to Pokemon themselves, such as the flower that a Floette holds and the fungus that grow on the back of a Paras, well, itâs.. um, itâs really fascinating. I...itâs nice to, um, to know Iâm not the only one that finds this line of study absolutely incredible.â
Adjusting her glasses that had slid down her nose amidst her rambling, she shifted the milkweed in her arms once more and retrieved the mentioned notebook with a shy grin.
âIf itâs not too much else to ask, c-could you, um, well... help me with my research for Kalos? I donât get much of an opportunity to visit often, so I... Iâm hoping to make the most of my time here.â
All the way from Orre? Well, wasnât she just a long way from home. You had to wonder what in the world brought her to Kalos; but for now, you donât raise the question. Instead, you veer yourself from the register and focus in on what she sought after â across the store and around your wares.
â What a world traveler you are. I definitely wouldnât       mind parting with anything that serves as a momento       of your home. â
There was a quiet trill drawing your attention from your potted hydragneas; a sound which brings hazel eyes down to your side. Scarlet brows raise once youâve lain your eyesight onto your ever helpful partner; your prized Lilligant. Always so keen on lending a hand where she can, held in her arms precisely what you were intent on finding â with itâs narrow leaves, and itâs slender blossoms â a carefully potted milkweed plant. Lips turn upright when she, instead of handing it to you, turns to offer it to whom requested it.
â Well then. Glad to see youâre taken with our customer.           Tthanks Prim. What would I do without you  ?  â
â âż âż
Although somewhat taken by surprise at the lovely Pokemon, mostly due to the fact that she had nearly confused it for one of the many lovely bouquets that adorned the shop, the woman happily took the potted plant in hand and smiled at the helpful Lilligant.
âO-oh, thank you so much! Prim, was it? Youâre very kind...âÂ
Turning towards the florist once more, Poppy shifted the pot in her arms slightly.Â
âI donât think Iâve seen a Lilligant outside of the Unova before. Though, I was only there briefly, so I donât know how common they actually are. The Kalos regionâs climate seems to be well-suited for the species, given how well groomed your Pokemon is. Ah, sorry. Iâm rambling a bit, arenât I? Sorry.â
â âż âż
Is already preparing a large patch of hangover medicine with a long sigh.
â âż âż
âO-oh, um, please donât fight about that! Or... at all, really. Please.â
đˇ @solar-synthesis has stopped to smell the roses.
[ đžđź ] âââ  Celadon City had the most beautiful Springs and Summers in her opinion. The sun shone bright above the heads of civilians, and the sparing clouds formed cute, puffy shapes as they dances across otherwise clear skies. It was this that made Erikaâs Sundays off feel more special.Â
The botanist was seated upon the ledge of the pretty water fountain located centered in the city. An unneeded sun parasol was rested in her hands, a wonderful red that matched the skirt of her furisode kimono. Charcoal hues were aimed at said sky, as if stuck in a daydream. Her beautiful features matched this scenery perfectly, a porcelain doll appreciating the nature around her â she felt pride for it. As if she herself was Mother Nature.
â âż âż
Poppy blew aside the eraser shavings that had formed on her notebook, and set her pencil down to observe her handy work. A simple, budding Kantonese daisy was the focus of the page, though the page was riddled with the various notes she had taken from her own observations as well as comparisons she had drawn between the Johtoan and Sinnohan varieties.Â
With a small grin, she closed up her notebook and looked down towards her-Â
   Wait, where was he?
âBayleef?â The woman stood up with a start, nearly dropping her notebook into the fountain at which she had been sitting at. âBayleef, wh-where are you?â
Headcanon: Residence
While she does travel often, Poppy does in fact have a proper home. Poppyâs house is a tiny, one-story ranch home that sits on a decent-sized plot of land a little ways south of Ecruteak City on Route 36.
Most of the acreage is taken up by several greenhouses in which she uses to grow plants from other regions for research purposes. She also has a small flower garden that she tends to for her own enjoyment.
These days, however, she tends to spend a majority of her time away from home while she searches for new plants to cultivate and study.
Not wrong, not off; her pronunciation for a simple greeting was very much clear. Thin lips are taut with delight when sheâs graced you with her presence. Slender fingers are pressed against your counter as you lean forward, hazel eyes dipping across your store only after youâve taken in her appearance. The woman poses a fascinating question â milkweed was (surprisingly) not often sought after by many trainers.
â A bit strange, oui. Thatâs an odd question,       but one I can answerâ though Iâm curious.Â
Whatever could you need milkweed for, mademoiselle ? â
Lighthearted query, poised with a genuine curl painted âcross your lips as you pulled yourself from the register.
â Itâs especially popular with Caterpie and Weedle,       you know. I started growing it when a couple regulars       asked. Are you training a few Bug types yourself  ? â
â âż âż
Shuffling around a bit in place, she chuckled at the comment. Well, to be fair, the florist wasnât wrong. She did plan on using the milkweed to study migration habits of certain Pokemon at one point, but that was for another day.
âNot necessarily. I-I grew up in Orre, where the species was more common, and all sorts of variations existed. Itâs been harder to find the farther I move from home, so... Iâd love to have some to keep at home for nostalgiaâs sake. â
She looked around at the bouquets by the counter with a small smile.
âThough, now that I think about it, Butterfree and Beedrill pollination could do wonders for the rest of my garden...â
â Bonjour, bonjour  !      Welcome â is there something I can help you with  ? â
â âż âż
âB-bonjour!â
She hoped she had gotten that right. Sure, she had visited Kalos before occasionally, but the language was tricky for her. She could attempt the basics, âhello, how do you do?â and the like, but by no means was she to be considered âfluentâ.
âI was... well, this may sound a bit strange to ask, but you wouldnât happen to carry any species of milkweed, would you?â
i really wasnt expecting so many ppl to like it oh gosh
when ur finicky and decide to change up poppyâs style a bit becuase why the fuck not
âOh! I can definitely get you my findings on Bellossom, then! It might not be anything you donât already know, but itâs one step in a good direction nonetheless.â His smile widened and he was suddenly rummaging through his bag. âI can say I understand that! I noticed that the more Gloom in the area there were, the different types of- oh here it is!- plant life there was around.â
â âż âż
She thumbed through the notes, her eyes scanning the page diligently as she murmured occasionally under her breath, âah, I seeâ, âinterestingâ, and various other phrases. After a moment or so more of reading, Poppy looked up excitedly from the notes, briefly clutching the Sun Stone pendant around her neck.
âThese are incredible! The variety of the Bellossom petals alone-! I always wondered if there was any correlation between times of day and Pokemon that evolved with Sun Stones, but to think it was this in-depth! I actually have gathered similar information on Gloom and their effect on the variety of the plant life in their territories, though I think I need to conduct a more thorough investigation in a controlled environment to see what exactly occurs.â
â âż âż
âI-It moved...â
â âż âż
âEh-excuse me, um... y-youâve got an Onix on your face. Does that not hurt? Oh, gosh, do you need medicine?!â
lets be real poppy probably has some herbs that like super illegal in other regions
