whats the context of the Singular Black Feather on top of grian's head? is it just showing that he grows feathers in his hair too or is there a more specific reason for it?

i've noticed it mostly in the tegg au i do not remember if its exclusive to that or if it appears elsewhere

ehehe it’s just a design choice, despite actually being a bird in this AU i don’t think he grows feathers in his hair, but I imagine he sleeps in a nest and he gets covered in feathers sometimes ! It’s there to look cute and a little messy, like he missed it in the morning, or maybe it landed there through the day.

But I also like to imagine as he gets deeper into a broody mindset, the feathers get worse as he stops keeping up with his appearance.

Do you have any tips for drawing characters facing different directions? No worries if not, you seem to be getting a lot of "help you're amazing and I'm not" art questions, but I was just wondering if there's any sort of trick to it or just practice practice practice :)

awh I’m def not amazing haha, definitely no where near professional either so my tips and advice can only go so far and should always be taken with a grian of salt, but I think for face angles it’s helpful to know how to draw boxes in every angle !! So it’s sorta like this….

practice can only be helpful if you have a goal to work towards, much like exercise it’s important to know what muscle to target sorts thing etc etc….. By drawing boxes, it helps you visualize perspectives easier ! It’s also harder than one might think. The boxes can help with many things too, I use them for hands and torsos as well.

as for side profiles…. I do the anime cat thing, I just edit the nose later 😭💥

Are your fem scarian trans women or cis? Because I know your masc scarian are trans men so I wondered if you made them sort of t4t (in a way?)

well when i first designed them i didn't think abt it, so i guess no there, BUT ! Then i briefly became obsessed with Omegaverse so that influenced me so.. In that case, Yes.. the superhero ones would be trans too

tho its not as easy to show like top scars are, but i do have a specific au abt Grian being a trans girl and transitioning while dating cis guy Scar (boyfriend to girlfriend activities i thought it was cute)

when I was looking at your post about your redrawing of cuteguy I couldn't help but notice your artstyle has improved a lot, but more specifically I wanted to note the way you draw bodies/poses is a lot more fluid. More human like motions rather than a stiff robot. Do you have any tips on how you practiced or anything you think helped you improved? Asking because I myself draw people like they are being possessed by a wooden board lolhaha(´。＿。｀)

thank you ! i struggle a lot with characters looking stiff, still, but i found that practicing "Gestures" helped a lot ! I'd recommend the YT channel Proko to learn abt the basics of gestures.

After that when you're familiar, i'd say to find a bunch of poses on Pinterest (or where ever..) you like, and draw gestures of them, try to do each one of them in under a minute, if you don't finish its ok just move on ! This helps you capture the motion and idea of a pose, rather than copying from an image. Right away this might not feel like much, its even frustrating, but i do notice its effort next time i draw a character properly..

"Draw a Box" is also pretty useful of learning line confidence.

i recommend doing all of this on any sort of paper you have, rather than digital art, so no erasing or undoing.

make sure to stretch comfortably !

(Besides all that, i simply found that using the CSP lasso fill tool on low opacity to do my guidelines made things softer lately.)
