*Whispers: I watched the Sands of Destruction anime before playing the game and then rewatched it with my sister about halfway through beating it. It's not bad but it certainly doesn't do the game justice. Also Agan is indeed the best.*

also eeeugh the anime just... seems to pull every staple anime trope (like the cherry-tree ghost) changes the personality of one of the best female characters completely, takes away the childhood relationship between agan and morte which is a huge part of the plot and how it progresses, and just doesn't have the incredible depth the game was given anyway

I am such a huge fan of good writing in the face of expected formulaic plots that happen so often in Japanese media that the SoD anime was kind of a slap in the face for what the writers did for the game.
