It’s a pretty routine heist. Hood had gotten intel on some weapons being moved and it seemed like a good opportunity to increase the gang’s stock. Trauma waited at an intersection for the truck, shifting into one of the driver’s fears (star-nosed mole, because it’s easier to control than the fear of never having a stable retirement).
Startled by the sudden appearance of a mole the size of a car, the truck driver swerves, crashing into the corner of a nearby building. And from there, it doesn’t take long for the rest of the gang to show up and get the goods out of the back. Trauma slips back into human form, wriggling his nose at the lingering sensation of… what do you call the feeler things on their noses? he wonders, then shakes his head.
But another strange feeling hits him, the eerie sense of being watched. He doesn’t see anyone else around, but the feeling doesn’t go away. Frowning, he turns to the rest of the crew. “Split up, make sure none of you are followed. You know where to meet up with the boss,” he says. With that, he grabs his portion of the goods, slings the duffel bag over his shoulder, and heads off in his own direction.
It’s probably nothing, right?
Trauma wasn’t the only one expecting a routine evening. All the Scarlet Spider expected to do was patrol the city, stop bad guys, and generally be a bad ass vigilante. But then a giant, mole sized, wrench got thrown into the works. At first, he assumed it was just some science experiment gone wrong. It was only when other super criminals started swarming from the shadows that the hero realized what was going on.
He was given pause when the giant mole became a man. Not so much because of the transformation, but because of who the mole became.
Of all the people Patrick could have run into from the Initiative, it would be his old teammate. To say their relationship was complicated would be an understatement. But, it’s not so much their past relationship that gives Patrick pause. It’s the fact that someone like Trauma was the last person he would have ever expected to be running with a gang of super criminals. There must be more to the story than he can see on the surface.
So, rather than running in guns blazing, the Spider waited until Trauma broke away from the group before he dropped in front of the former initiate.
