@solgunslinger, for the inbox call but I was worried it was going to be too long! ( inspired by this old hc post and this doom: eternal update! )
It’d been a while since they’d even touched the little pocket dimension they called home. With the sarcophagus, UAC and Solgun happening over the course of such a small amount of time, they’d up and forgotten they even had it. It wasn’t until a conversation about home that the gears in their head finally clicked into place, and an excited grin spread across their face behind their visor. Skipping a few steps ahead of her, they motioned eagerly for her to stop.
‘ Y’know what? Ya’ jus’ went an’ reminded me ‘a somethin’ REAL important!! Now, gonna take a wild guess an’ say yer tired’a nappin’ on demon bones, righ’? I mean, y’never know when one’a th’ bastards is gonna show up an ruin everythin’, right? Right! Now, I got the PERFECT solution to all of our woes! I mean, it ain’t exactly meant for sleepin’ in, bu’ tha’s just ‘cuz I could never figure out how t’ sleep. Anyway! Perfect nappin’ spot, comin’ righ’ up!! ‘’
Getting a few feet in front of her to avoid any adverse affects ( this wasn’t something they liked to do regularly, so its actual consequences were a little unknown ), they seemed to dig their hands into the air in front of them itself– and with a crackle of Argent-Angelic power, they tore a hole in the fabric of Hell itself. Rather than an empty void, however, the other side showed what could be considered a ‘hub’; a room the size of a college dorm, with the most miscellaneous of items strewn across its floor, from half-finished, hand crafted weapons to ancient armor that hadn’t been worn in eons. The Slayer bounded right in, motioning eagerly for her to follow right after. And nearly tripping over a few rocks they had on the floor in the process.
( Maybe explaining the whole ‘ I can open pocket dimensions ‘ thing should have gone first, but they didn’t like to spend time explaining when they were excited. )
‘ –Ta da!!!!! S’ my house!! Well, sorta. I mean, I mostly use it for storage, bu’ s’ still really good for naps! An’ jus’ coolin’ down when Hell gets too hot. Oh! Holy shit, look, look!! ‘ Their attention was immediately snatched by something on the floor, of which they immediately knelt down to shift through. With a raspy but joyful exclamation, they turned to reveal what they’d seen– a small rabbit statue, carved out of Hell stone. ‘ I forgot I made this!! I ain’t seen this thing in years. Geez, I really gotta clean this place up! Needs a fresh coat’a paint. ‘
After everything- it’s nice to see DG perk up again. Happiness is often a farce, a show of almost manic joy ( such similarity they have with the person Solgun used to be only so long ago ) as though desperately hoping to convince anyone that everything is good and fine. It never really is. For now at least, it seems the excitement is genuine. Mellow conversation shifts abruptly when something crosses their mind, the large frame of the Doomslayer skipping ahead earns a relieved and somewhat amused smile from the Gunslinger.
“ Oh? Really!? That is wonderful! “ She trills, both hands forming 5′s and pushing forward twice to accompany her words. “ A napping spot you say? When did you have time to find it in a place like this? ” Had they not been busy tearing apart Demons and defending the remainder of this... ‘UAC’ place’s staff? Or ruining the machines of one Samuel Hayden? Hard to imagine them looking for something they did not truly require... Although, it is always good to have a quiet, safe place to retreat to. So perhaps it was in truth, necessary?
Shaking her wandering thoughts away, Solgun’s head tilts in confusion the moment they step in front of her, bodily blocking the path and whatever might lay ahead. She tenses slightly, feeling... Something. Something powerful shift in the universe around them, though she has not the skill to quantify or wholly understand the connotation. It just feels like... Collapsing air and electricity from a computer plugged to a poorly wired socket. Like something ripping as Doomguy digs their hands into the fabric of reality and splits it apart. Energy both like and unlike Light rushes past them and sends a shiver up her spine- goosebumps prickling all along her arms. It is not Darkness, but something about it feels vaguely like that, too.
If she’d been holding a gun she might have gripped the weapon tighter, knuckles white, but her hands are empty. It’s Doomguy’s doing, too. Solgun trusts them above all else within this universe. She must be calm. Calm! They would warn her of danger, she is sure!
The air seems to decompress a little around them as it sinks into the new void, cloak fluttering at her heels. It’s a room full of things that most certainly belong to the warrior in front of her. They charge delightedly inside, beckoning her to follow and almost falling for their efforts. Solgun relaxes.
“ Careful, love! Do not fall! ” Her apprehension is only momentary, curiosity returning as the Guardian tentatively pokes her head inside the new pocket dimension before her. “ Wow! DG, I cannot believe you could open pocket dimensions this whole time! Big enough to enter physically, anyway, I thought- I do not know, perhaps if that is what you were doing, it was limited to all the weaponry you own. Amazing! ” Solgun rambles a bit, quieting as she steps daintily over and between the guns littered over the floor. It wouldn’t do to step on their belongings!
The thing they retrieve from the ground calls her attention as well, DG’s reaction more than enough incentive to have her fastidiously sneaking closer. To peer up into their hand she has to stand a little more on her tiptoes, but it’s well worth it when she sees a lovingly crafted stone rabbit. “ Oh! Ohh!!! This is beautiful, DG! You are an artist! What an absolutely lovely little bunny! Stone is exceedingly difficult to work with as it is not the most forgiving medium. I do not work with it if I can avoid it for this very reason. Sprite, look at this! They did so well, did they not? Does the little one have a name? “
Her Ghost, for the first time in quite a while, materializes to quietly observe the stone rabbit. Though they say nothing, their shell squishes together to shape their pink optic look like a pleased squint. They certainly approve!
