Fanfiction is becoming people’s primary form of entertainment right now because most media right now is so cheap, bland, recycled, and sponsored by people who love money more than the source material. Fanfiction is written for free by people who genuinely love what they’re writing about. That’s why it’s better. That’s why it’s more satisfying. Fanfiction is a home-cooked meal made for yourself and for your friends. Media today is junky fast food spoiled by too much grease and the knowledge that the people producing it are being criminally mistreated and underpaid.

I just want to create something. I don’t know what. I don’t care what. Paintings, books, video games, little wooden statues, mosaics out of broken dishes. Maybe all of the above. I want to hide little easter eggs for people to find. All of them to lead to another clue, and that clue to lead them to another one. I want to tell a story or relay a message across all the different works. They don’t have to be long or very well made, they don’t have to bring me a profit. I just want to leave something behind, and maybe one day after many decades somebody will think “oh yeah, that trail of clues that led me to that neat little detail/story/piece of lore/etc., I remember that”. And that would be enough for me.
