"Seriously?” Renata says, rubbing her eyes.

To be truthful, she has been feeling… slower than usual, which is easily explained by a fever. Still, she’s hated being sick ever since she was little, and she has things to do, which she can't do if she's ill.

“You’re sure?” She asks doubtfully, though more out of denial than anything else.

where some of renata's musically inclined siblings choose to use their instruments as their weapons ( notably, austin lake ), renata chooses not to - it's simply a case of practicality since violins are ... fussy. the strings and tunings are finnicky at the best of times, and the not-treated-for-the-elements wood is incredibly sensitive to humidity in the air. so, when it comes to her weapons, renata favors a bow, and in specific, a recurve bow. her bow has less bells and whistles than her sister kayla's ( kayla, after all, is trying out for the olympics, eventually). renata's bow only has a sight, a pair of finger savers on the string, and a riser that’s painted a metallic gold. her arrows are nothing particularly fancy but she takes great pride in the fact that she has fletched them all herself. ( renata also keeps a dagger with her, just in case. )

#❝ let the melody save me ❞ → hcs #❝ the sun just goes on rising ❞ → ooc; queue #( as a non sax player i actually have no idea how fussy saxophones are in comparison to violins )#( but given that violins are fussy in general ... yeah )#( a point i was gonna make: violins expensive but austin's got tenor sax that are usually $800+ which i only know because i googled it but #( that is just as much if not more as a good/non-student violin so moot point there specifically )
