بطرسبرغ صقيع الالم

الفصل الاول الجزء الثالث

لم تتحمل آليا ثانية واحدة أخرى داخل هذه الغرفة التي ضاقت لتُطبق على أضلاعها.طرقت زجاج مكتب الاستقبال بعنف :

-هل كل شيء على ما يرام؟ تبدين خائفة! (همست وكيلة الاستقبال بتعجب).

-أنا.. أين الطبيب؟ تأخر عن الموعد.

-أي موعد؟

-ماذا تقصدين بأي موعد؟ لقد حجزت موعداً في تمام الساعة العاشرة و خمس و اربعين دقيقة!

-هل أنتِ متأكدة؟ ما اسمكِ لأتحقق؟

-اسمي آليا.

-لا مكان لاسمكِ، يبدو أنه لم يتم تسجيلكِ. أأنتِ متأكدة من أنكِ حجزتِ موعداً؟

-طبعاً متأكدة!! ماذا دهاكم؟ لقد اتصلتُ هذا الصباح!

-حسناً، لا بأس، عودي لغرفة الانتظار وسأتصل بالطبيب.

خطت آليا نحو غرفة الانتظار بخطوات ثقيلة أرهقتها الصدمة، فهل يُعقل أنه خُيِّل إليها أنها تحدثت إلى وكيلة الاستقبال ؟ أم أن هذه غلطتهم لأنهم لم يسجلوا اسمها؟لم تنتظر حتى يأتيَ الطبيبُ، كان القلق ينهش عقلها باستمرار، فحملت حقيبتها وغادرت مسرعةً.كانت تقاوم الثلوج التي أحالت الرصيف فستاناً أبيضَ مرصعاً بالحجارة المتناثرة.كانت تستدير خلفها كل ثانية تتفقد الطريق، كان لديها شعور خانق بأن أحداً يراقبها أو يتبعها، واستمرت على ذلك الحال حتى همس لها ذاك الفحيح المضني بكلمات متقطعة:

-اركضي عزيزتي.. اركضي!

ما إن سمعت همسات الفحيح حتى انطلقت بأقصى ما لديها من قوة رغم مرضها، فلولا أدرينالين الخوف لسقطت جثةً هامدةً.وصلت إلى تلك الشقة البيضاء، وما كانت أفضل حالاً من الرصيف، إذ كانت أشبه بسجن في نظر "آليا".وضعت حقيبتها على الطاولة، ودفنت يدها في جيبها لتخرج هاتفها، وما إن استقرت يدها في الجيب حتى شعرت بلسعة باردة تغلغلت برودتها في كامل عظامها.أخرجت فلساً معدنياً بنقشة صقر بجناحين مفرودين:

-م.. ما هذا؟ أنا لم... لم أحمل نقوداً! أنا لا... أملك هذه العملات!

بالكاد صدقت ما رأت، لم يكن من المعقول أن يقفز هذا الفلس لجيبها دون أن تدري. وبينما تتعارك مع عقلها حول تفسير منطقي واحد لهذا الموقف، تذكرت ذاك النحيل الذي انحنى إلى مسمعها:

إنه هو.. قطعاً هو... ولكن متى؟ متى وضعه في جيبي؟ آه نعم، بالتأكيد ولا شك في هذا، عندما انحنى! يا إلهي، كنت أعلم.. كنت أعلم أن نواياه سيئة، ما العمل الآن؟ ما العمل؟

قطع تفكيرها المذعور اهتزاز هاتفها بين أصابعها المرتجفة. أصدر الهاتف نغمة رسالة قصيرة، رنينها بدا في سكون الشقة كضربة مطرقة فوق زجاج هش.سحبت شريط الإشعارات بعينين متسعتين من الرعب، لتقرأ رسالة من رقم مجهول يتكون من أرقام برمجية غريبة، كانت الكلمات مقتضبة، حادة، وكأنها نُحتت من صقيع المدينة:«لقد عدتِ إلى سجنكِ الأبيض سريعاً يا آليا... الصقر لا يضيع طريدته. لا داعي لإقفال الباب، فأنظمتكِ الهشة باتت ملكي، وانتظري الفجر»

PETERSBURG FROST OF PAIN CHAPTER 1 PART 3

Alya could not bear another single second inside this room, which had narrowed until it felt like it was crushing her ribs. She knocked violently on the glass of the reception desk:

“Is everything alright? You look frightened!” the receptionist whispered in astonishment.

“I… where is the doctor? He is late for the appointment.”

“Which appointment?”

“What do you mean, which appointment? I booked an appointment at exactly ten forty-five!”

“Are you sure? What is your name so I can check?”

“My name is Alya.”

“There is no record of your name; it seems you were not registered. Are you sure you booked an appointment?”

“Of course I am sure!! What is wrong with you people? I called this morning!”

“Alright, it’s fine. Go back to the waiting room, and I will call the doctor.”

Alya walked toward the waiting room with heavy steps, exhausted by the shock. Could it be that she had only imagined talking to the receptionist? Or was this their mistake because they failed to register her name?She did not wait for the doctor to arrive. Anxiety was constantly gnawing at her mind, so she grabbed her bag and left in a hurry.She was fighting against the snow, which had turned the sidewalk into a white dress studded with scattered stones.She was turning around every second to check the path. She had a suffocating feeling that someone was watching or following her. She kept on like that until that exhausting wheeze whispered to her in broken words:

“Run, my dear… run!”

The moment she heard the whispers of the wheezing, she dashed with all the strength she had left despite her illness. Had it not been for the adrenaline of fear, she would have dropped dead.She reached that white apartment, which was in no better state than the sidewalk, as it felt like a prison in Alya's eyes.She placed her bag on the table and buried her hand in her pocket to pull out her phone. The moment her hand settled in the pocket, she felt a cold sting whose chill permeated the very depths of her bones.She pulled out a metal coin with an engraving of a hawk with outspread wings:

“W… what is this? I didn’t… I wasn't carrying any money! I don’t… own these coins!”

She could barely believe what she saw. It was not reasonable for this coin to jump into her pocket without her knowing.As she wrestled with her mind for a single logical explanation for this situation, she remembered that slender man who had leaned close to her ear:

It was him… absolutely him… but when? When did he put it in my pocket? Ah yes, certainly and without a doubt, when he leaned in! Oh my God, I knew… I knew his intentions were bad. What should I do now? What should I do?

Her panicked thoughts were interrupted by the vibration of her phone between her trembling fingers. The phone emitted a short message tone; its ring in the silence of the apartment sounded like a hammer blow on fragile glass. She pulled down the notification bar, her eyes wide with terror, to read a message from an unknown number consisting of strange programming codes. The words were brief, sharp, as if carved from the city's frost:"You returned to your white prison quickly, Alya... The hawk does not lose its prey. No need to lock the door; your fragile systems are now mine, and wait for the dawn."
