That’s such a weird thing to say and a weird account. Arriving in a new fandom is weird. Especially one that’s so well established. Like, if you’re on AO3 there is literally so much fanfic that the site can’t display it. It lets you see the first 5000 pages, fics going back to the summer of ‘24, then it’s like “nope, too many fics, I can’t cope” and tells you you need to refine the search filters to see more.
It displays the first 100,000 of 402,474 fics.
402,474.And that’s as of now. I bet if I refreshed it in an hour it’ll be hundreds more. have literally never seen such an active fandom.
So tell me, how the actual hell are you supposed to find the good fic in that? Where do you find that angsty, character-driven long and plotty stories that hit all the right spots and hurt in just the right was while simultaneously remaining completely in character? Where? What do I search for??
I’d love to just go ahead and write it myself, but without reading something first to get a feel for them, I don’t know if I trust myself to get it right.
So, rec me your favourite fics. Please. Rec me something that I’m not going to be able to get out of my mind. Rec me something that’s going to keep me up at night reading until the early hours.
