This is just a phase. You’ll get over it. That might be true, but I’ll always look back on it and be glad. Glad that I have the memories of my favorite groups, making me laugh, excited, happy when nothing else could. People just assume that we get into Kpop because they’re hot or their songs, and that might be true, but the reason we stay is very different. Kpop and Kdramas especially Got7, and all the kdramas I’ve spent hours and hours not getting sleep over, is the reason I’m happy. They came to me in a time where I was broken, disgusted in myself, I felt like a waste in space, and here comes a group of seven dorks, who make you laugh without you wanting to. A kdrama which makes you feel happy when your leads get together. They both came to me when I was in a tough place in my life and pulled from it. Everyone needs something to distract themselves, to shake them out of whatever hole they’re in. Kdramas and Kpop was that to me. So please next time you say, “it’s just a phase.” Or “what are these Chinese dudes so cool for?” Please realize that they are much more then just celebrities to some people.
