This is full of mild thrills because you know, itās all corporate and thereās alcohol nearby and thatās the legal equivalent of swimming in a shark feeding frenzy, BUT, more importantly, it would be full of people who like thrills. And finding your tribe on a Caribbean ship doesnāt sound too bad...

Seems pretty surreal and reminds me of that Salvador Dali painting, āThe Persistence of Memoryā. In no way does it remind me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but that is what these amateur film makers thought would be a good soundtrack. Oh well.

I have heard, that you can find yourself in some weird head spaces in one of these things. Some say that you can have experiences akin to an acid trip.
A friend of mine experienced one of these as a birthday present for himself, and said that they advise you not to move around so as to remain out of touch with the physical world - but that he broke that rule (perhaps out of fear? I donāt know)
Iāll probably never be a morning person. But sometimes exceptions must be made. Albuquerque NM holds the largest hot air balloon festival in the world, with 700+ balloons in its duration. It happens in October. Perhaps that is where Iāll be in October 2017...
But even just watching the video is kind of awesome, since you canāt watch real life in time lapse, anyhow
Relampago del Catatumbo is a phenomenon that happens at the mouth of the Maracaibo river in northwestern Venezuela.
More than half the days of the year there are lightning storms! They say 140-260 nights a year there are lightning storms.
And so, of course, if itās a strange phenomenon of the world, I want to see it. I imagine a week stay would get you at least one, right?
I just have to make sure Iāve got my bug spray, because itās near the swampy mouth of this river which is probably jammed up with mosquitos. Hopefully not Zika.

Did you know this existed?! I just recently learned of it. āThe Door to Hellā is what they call this collapsed oil/gas drilling operation. For some reason, after the drilling operation caved in in 1971, USSR āscientistsā in Turkmenistan, thought that it might be better to set the natural gas emissions on fire rather than enter the atmosphere. They thought it would only last a few days. 47 years later, we still have a door to hell. Iād like to take a look.
You may have to fast forward through the intro, to get to the good stuff, but flyboarding looks amazing. In keeping with a theme that this blog has revealed to me, I want to do the (somewhat) extreme sport of flyboarding. (note: flyboarding is not recognized yet by tumblrās dictionaries).
Itās expensive. Just like everything else extreme. But itās also available at intro levels in many water-side (larger) cities. I know Chicago and New York have lessons for it that are available to the public.
Tomato festival. Specifically, āLa Tomatinaā in BuƱol, Valencia, Spain, near the central eastern coast on the Mediterranean.

Would it be awesome to have one of these in the USA? Yes, but I am fairly certain that organizers would face a lot of heat from people about wasting food while we have starving people in this world. So Iām guessing that the only places this will exist are the places that started the tradition before activism became as widespread as it is now. So, basically, only in BuƱol,

Part of being an adult is that you have transformed your likes from ice cream ... to whiskey, from naps ... to 70 hour work weeks, from running around for no reason...to running around for 5 kilometers to make sure youāve āstill got itā.
I guess being an adult has its perks, and one of them is being able to eat cake, and then buy another cake to have. So, since you can enjoy ice cream and whiskey, and you can take naps and work a 70 hour week (just call the naps your full nightās sleep, I guess), I think itās reasonable to have adult sized playgrounds, with adult scale challenges. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, thereās everything right with that. And American Ninja Warrior is the proof.
So, while Iām one of the millions who would like to try out ANW, I think on a less competitive scale, this would also be awesome. Next time Iām in St. Louis...

More awesome than a water tornado? Fire tornado. Iām not sure that I can reasonably expect to see a fire tornado, but Iād love to see any tornado in real life.
They say ātornado alleyā is the place to go - the āprime real estateā is more or less centered around Oklahoma, extending a state or two north and south of it.
Spring and early summer are the higher probability times to experience tornadoes due to the more dramatic temperature differences in air masses.
Storm chasing is obviously a dangerous game, but from my very cursory research, most tornadoes travel at about 30 mph, with the fastest ever reported at about 70mph, so the good news is cars will typically be able to out run them. Bicycles will usually not.

Common in south east Asian cultures, lantern festivals have made their way to the USA. Of course, not without the same controversy theyāve begun to feel in southeast Asia - concerns about litter, and fire hazards.
But before they become illegal worldwide, Iād love to participate in one in real life.

Who wants to go to a desolate, dangerous, cold, vastly uninhabited landscape, anyhow? Well, for a point of reference, over 200,000 people applied for the (basically) suicide mission to Mars for Mars One, and that seems even worse to me. Iām just saying, Iām not the only crazy one.
Iāve wondered what it would be like to be so far away from any other person, and from terra forma, and while thatās achievable on any single-manned boat adrift in the Pacific, this kind of landscape feels like land, in some sense, and can sort-of be lived off of. Knowing Iām walking on ice, that the ground may creak into a crack, and separate like some newly formed sheer cliffs in a fantasy film is both terrifying, humbling, and yeah, unlikely. But possible.

The Aurora Borealis, or, the northern lights (or if seen in the southern hemisphere, the Aurora Australis). It must have been completely astounding to those long before us who had no protracted scientific explanation for these strange colors in the night sky.
The above video was captured in Scotland. Iāve heard Iceland sees them frequently, too. Also, Alaska and presumably northern Canada. And probably anywhere near the arctic circle, though thatās just an educated guess.
Full disclosure, I have indeed seen the northern lights by a stroke of luck one night in my late youth, but not at this magnitude, and Iām, uh, not in my late youth anymore. Weāll say āearly adulthoodā.
