'Hikaru' can heal souls. HOW BIG IS THAT
Spread this theory everywhere but Tumblr so now I guess I gotta rant here now
TSHD CHAPTER 38.4 SPOILERS
So I think that the consequence of mixing is Yoshiki is being forgotten. Kurebayashi has been warning Yoshiki that he will lose his place in humanity, and I think this is turning out to be a lot more literal than we all initially though, he is physically being removed from human society. This is why it's been 3 hours and his mum hasn't picked him up.
Back in chapter 29, maki just forgot yoshikis name. At the time this could of been accounted for the leg impurities messing with his head, but if this is the result of Yoshikis mixing it would explain his mother's absence.
When commenting that his mum hasn't picked him up, Tanaka looks at Yoshikis arm, and is clearly thinking something, maybe he knows the two are related
This would also work in the queer narrative, as often in small communities, they want to forget queer people, act like they don't exist, and will abandon those people.
I also have a tehory that Tanaka may know this as this has also happened to him. This goes back to the Tanaka is kurebayashis son theory, as what if the same thing happened to him, causing the rest of his family and the villages to forget him. For starters if Tanaka is from the area, surely someone would recognise him but noone does. Tanaka is most likely mixed causing his blindness and the mark on his neck, and he did say that Yoshiki reminded him of himself after looking at his arm.
I think this all fits a bit too well to ignore anyways
Kurebayashi is handing over Hikaru, oh, we're so done, oh no...
I know exactly who hikaru would kin if he finished hxh
These two boys' voice actors cannot stop putting out a hell of a performance each episode, can they? Episode 6 had as Chiaki Kobayashi wonderfully portraying Yoshiki's breaking point when he reaised what "Hikaru" was going to do to Asako, and in Episode 7, we have this outstanding performance of Shuuichiro Umeda (you can read more if you wish as this is going to be an analysis of the scene and its outcome.)
When mokumokuren said The summer Hikaru died isn't necessarily a bl but a queer story they really meant: it's a story about identity, about feeling an outcast or that you don't belong. It's story about heteronormativity but also standards and hegemony in different senses. We've seen this being acknowledged by Yoshiki in the past:
And now with Asako empathizing with Yoshiki through her own experience (feeling like no one will come understand her for her ability of hearing).
Both Yoshiki and Asako understand more than anyone.
Queerness is not just referring to LGBTQIA+ in the story. It's using the word in it's historical primary use: "being strange" "odd" ...out of an imposed "normality".
'Hikaru', Yoshiki and Asako understand more than anyone what this feels. That's why the author has been emphasizing that they do not only want to portray queerness in its contemporary meaning but the feeling of not belonging.
Btw, I just opened an X account to talk more about tshd in case you're interested (@hkfirework). I'm usually more active there (and, this tumblr account is also about other animes too so...) ✨️
Since we're having confirmation that both Yoshiki and 'Hikaru' can't or won't label their feelings and relationship, here is your reminder that aro/ace spectrum exist and does not limit people to be physically intimate.
I think it's clear they care and love eachother, without needing to label, which could be interpreted as a-spec. But I've seen so many people inmediatly assuming that, because they don't fall in the traditional romantic or sexual standars, that means there's nothing between them, which is absurd.
And, on the other hand there's people assuming Yoshikaru can't be physically intimate because they might fall in the a-spectrum, which is also a terrible misconception of aspec relationships.
It's a SPECTRUM after all. Some people like intimacy, some don't. Some are neutral about it, some just like in certain circumstances or with a particular person.
Also, at the end of the day, people can interpret Yoshikaru relationship the way they want. The author intended that.

I honestly thought 'Hikaru' ran away but it seems he probably silently agreed with Kurebayashi to close the next portal to keep away Yoshiki from everything. He probably is just set on leaving this time ...
Yoshiki... Yoshiki's sure got a pretty soul.
I think the most heartbreaking thing about the most recent chapter is this panel. Like 'Hikaru' was just afraid of this type of thing happening, but he was reassured by Yoshiki that he trusted he wouldn't do it again.
But then, here we are again, and even though 'Hikaru' is trying so hard again and again to resist his own nature and understand what it's like to be human, he hurt someone. He hurt someone really badly without meaning to, as much as he was working hard to improve, he was just doing something huge to save people! And yet theres an injured kid and a sobbing mother because of his actions
Is it truth that tshd is gonna end in volume 10? I remember the author said it was gonna end soon but I don't remember them saying the number of volumes? Does that mean we have like 12 chapters left?!!!
I don't blame Kurebayashi for reacting the way she did because she instantly was reminded of what happened to her son. She saw a mom devastated because of what happened to her daughter. It's expected that she saw her own experiences in this scenario.
She is hurting Yoshiki in the process tho, thinking that she is protecting him, WHICH IS ALSO TRUTH, but at the same time she doesn't realize she is essentially rejecting Yoshiki's identity.
It's the argument (homophobic) parents use to "protect" their children from suffering and judgment. So my guess is that, at seeing Yoshiki won't leave 'Hikaru' (because I know he won't) she's gonna regret her words and will try to further understand their situation. But who knows if it'll be too late or not
So Kurebayashi is homophobic after all? 😔
With the way Kurebayashi reacted and told Yoshiki to stop mixing, I wonder if we're gonna see what conversation went between her and 'Hikaru'. Because all I can think of, after seeing this scene, is her telling him to stay away and 'Hikaru' just runned away...
I'm truly devastated...
