I love how at the Rainbow concert (1974) when Freddie introduced Brian (before "Keep yourself alive") he said "It's really nice to have him back after his illness" and Brian looked shy and smiled 😍

Yesssssss I love that moment and also the way he introduces the song!

okay but my FAVOURITE thing about this clip is when freddie says ‘it’s really nice to have him back […] he hasn’t joined anyone else’

we know that brian was often getting approached by other bands who wanted to poach him (because he is one of the best fucking guitarists and musicians around) and freddie was well aware of how much other people wanted him. he down-plays it, there’s an interview somewhere where he says that they all get approached but people get the wrong idea about brian because he’s too polite to just say no, so people think he’s interested but ‘he never for one second considered leaving us’. which i think is easy to say after the fact but i am positive that freddie was worried during that time that brian was going to get a more tempting offer and join another band, which is why i think it is SO telling that he pointedly says here that he hasn’t joined anyone else. he’s relieved.

#nobody will ever convince me that freddie was as assured about the whole thing as he acts#like are you kidding me?#he stalked this boy for years in smile#desperate to join their band#FINALLY got his wish#then they had to absolutely grind and kept getting knocked back#meanwhile other bands are trying to entice brian away#freddie would’ve been insecure as fuck about that#fortunately for him there WAS nothing to worry about#brian’s too loyal#plus he loves being in queen#but there is no way freddie was as certain of it all as he pretended to be after#he is SO happy to have him back in good health#and BACK#he’s like ‘FUCK YOU EVERYONE WHO WANTED HIM HE’S OURS’
