Pee
There is so much to unpack here. This tweet included some photos of some #benedictdonald merch for sale at a rally in Youngstown, OH. This is the original tweet: https://twitter.com/stephemcneal/status/889959070270197764 . I would like to point out a few things that jump out at me.
1. The same tacky-ass people who have been putting these Calvin peeing stickers on their trucks for the last 20 years (yes, it's been that long) are the same ones to whom this will appeal. Generally, Calvin is seen peeing on Chevy or Ford logos, sometimes Mopar. Often he will be seen defiling the driver's favorite team's arch rival. Since 2008, I have seen him peeing on politicians' names. I cannot recall ever seeing him peeing on a Republican, but perhaps there is an example out there. It embodies the same kind of tribalism that some writers in the political sphere have been describing for the last decade or more.
2. Those who are positing this unlicensed (as in illegal) content on their cars are also quick to recite the dog whistle rhetoric about "law and order!" from far right politicians and media outlets. Watterson does not license his content. He has his reasons, and that is his right. The irony is utterly lost on these folks. #IOKIYAR
3. The phenomenon of calling liberals "snowflake" has it's own ironic history. Though the term has some history preceding Fight Club, the alt-right started using it in the last few years as a disparaging term for liberals, ostensibly because of liberals' delicateness. What they seem to miss is that Palahniuk's amazingly prescient work is anything but an endorsement of the world view of Project Mayhem or the alt-right. They have no capacity to recognize satire much less any idea what satire is.
4. Pee...Trump. Trump. Pee. I guess Fox "News" and dis-infowars have not been running that story. VOTE!!!
