At her glare, his lips form into a grin. If looks could kill and if only her gift extended past touch, he mightâve been dead. A modern Medusa if you will. It causes a chuckle to erupt from his mouth. He waves off the pedestrian, leaving them in further confusion as the two walk off.Â
Sculpted arms sit atop his chest, crossed. One of his arms is littered in tattoos, enough to make the single [001] look NORMAL and not as lonely. Itâs enough to not have anyone ask the meaning of that singular one. He doesnât remember a time he didnât have it ; he darkly jokes being born with it and he wouldnât put it past the scientists to have given it to him as a newborn or toddler. â Lighten up, Ly. â He shakes his head, â I was teasing. Yâknow, a joke?â
Lyra canât help but scan the alleyway. Shes cautions. Clearly a lot more cautious than Kai. She can hear Kai chuckling behind her, not caring who could hear him. He always was overly confident and frankly, it scared her. Being around him seemed dangerous, like being associated with him could get her caught, make people realize what she was. âForgive me if I have trouble understanding your jokes.â
Lyra leans back against the wall and fidgets with her leather gloves. âNow I believe I asked you a question. I want to know what you want.â
to say marina was in a bad mood was an understatement and it wasnât exactly helped by the woman who was currently yelling at her for what she considered no good reason. sure marina had been flirting with this womanâs husband, so what? the husband was clearly into it or she wouldnât have wasted her time. with  sigh she stroked her hand lightly down the womanâs arm and softly whispered. âshhhs calm down.â A smile appeared on her face as the woman stopped yelling and walked away. âmuch better.â
Lyra stared at the women and in front of her. She almost felt like she recognized her, but it wasn't her face she recognized. More the energy she gave off. As she watched the situation unfold things started to click into place. Lyra couldnât decide if it was a good idea to approach the stranger. On the one hand, there was a good chance this woman came from the same place Lyra had come from. On the other, she could be dangerous.
Lyra stared at her longer, and finally decided to approach her. The worse case she could slip a glove off and kill her.
The introduction is met with no response initially, until chocolate hues scan the tattoo sheâs chosen to reveal. Katherineâs eyes widen for a moment before she hurries to cover up such shock. What on earth would prompt this woman to approach her and make it known they originate from the same place?
âI donât know what you want or why youâve decided to approach me but Iâm not here to cause trouble.â Revealing not only her number but her name is out of the question without proof she could trust this woman.
That was enough of an answer for Lyra. A normal person might see a tattoo like hers and think nothing of it. But this lady reacted strongly. Lyra knee this was probably risky and possibly a bad idea, but when you can kill anyone by grabbing them you tend to live a little dangerously. She pulled out a seat next to the stranger and pointed out the drawing. She leaned in to whisper. âI know Iâm coming on strong. I promise I want any trouble either.â Lyra could see the lady was uncomfortable. âAnd Iâm sorry for that but you clearly know some of whatâs going on in this town. And this has been a very confusing time.â
âFormer Chief Hopper, found in the woods alongside local resident Billy HargroveâŚâ The sound is drowned out as Katherine looks down to realize her seemingly non-sensible scribbles made out two different shapes, one of the massive shadow creature some have grown to call the Mind Flayer, the second being of a silhouette in a lab coat. Both completely opposing forces juxtaposed with other and yet holding the same status in her mind.
âAnd in other news, the latest gruesome discoveries in the woods connected to Forrest Hills Park, yet another body found just last week has now been identified.â The anchorpersonâs words cause Katherineâs head to shoot up and eye the screen. The name flashing across the screen makes her eyes go wide, a sickening feeling settling in. She freezes up, eyes gloss over as terrible memories flood her mind. Itâs not until someone walks over that sheâs able to snap out of it, practically jumping out of her skin.
âW-What? OhâŚIâm sorry. What were you saying?â Just act normal, put on a brave face, act normalâŚ
Lyra stared at the drawing from afar. How did this lady know what the shadow monster was? She leaned over a little closer to look inspect the drawing more, trying her best to not look suspicious. She could suddymake out the other drawing, a lab coat. I though dawned on her.
She watched the woman react to the news and jumped to her feet. She got right up close to the table and spoke before the women even reacted. Lyra cleared her thoat. âHi, nice to meet you, Iâm Lyra Jones.â Lyra let her eyes wander down to the leather gloves she always wore and hoped the strangers eyes would follow. Careful she peeled back the very top of her glove, exposing her wrist just slightly and, more importantly, her tattoo that read [010]. âWhatâs your name?â
Kai can make out the blonde figure ahead, speaking to some stranger. She mustâve seen something she could prevent, no doubt stopping the stranger from crossing the street or stepping onto oncoming traffic. As traffic as it could get in Hawkins, Indiana anyway. To die from getting hit by a car and not some inter-dimensional monster in Hawkins was quite the biggest âFuck Youâ from the world. Â
He catches up to his fellow, testsubject. â See something you didnât like, I take it? â Kai asks, he isnât discreet, doesnât care much for it. â Careful, youâd think you were playing God. â Heâs teasing and knows it most likely wont sit very well with the other. Playing God was exactly what theyâd been doing, whether it was ending some lives quicker than natural selection intended to or if it were Lyra postponing it for someone.Â
Lyra whipped around to face the voice behind her even though she already knew who the speaker was. She glared into the face she knew so well. For so many years of her life, Lyra had been trapped in the lab, the other test subjects her only family. Including Kai.
It was not a happy reunion. She grimaced when he spoke so loudly, so openly in public. A quick scan along the street showed, luckily, no one was looking at them or seemed to care at all. She moved quickly to a quiet alleyway off the sidewalk and gave Kai a look that said: âfollow me NOW or elseâ.Â
âYouâre one to talk about playing God,â she scoffed, âI always thought you believed it was our RIGHT to use our powers? Now, what do you want?â
Lyra had been out on a walk through Hawkins on her way to the grocery store. She was always on high alert in public. She was terrified that any person in the crowd may point her out, tell her she didnât belong, she was a freak experiment, or call the chief of police.
Today, however, she was on high alert because she noticed someone up ahead of her was going to be hit by a car. She had grown accustomed to seeing people close to death in public. Sometimes from old age, sometimes heart attack, mostly something natural, something she couldnât help. But hit by a car? She could save someone, make up for a life she had ended in the lab. She had to try.
âHello. Ah, sorry to stop you, um?â Lyra stumbled over her words. She couldnât exactly explain why she had stopped them. âMaybe, well, I was thinking you should stay here. And not cross the road for now. Please?â She remembered to smile like the Jones taught her.
Hey there Demogorgons, it's me, ya gal. I'm out here playing both Lyra and Dustin. Come chat with me! Iâd loooove to plot with you guys!! Because she is not a canon character none of you guys know who this girl Lyra is, so let us dive deeper into her character!
[HALSTON SAGE, FEMALE, SHE/HER] Fuck me gently with a chainsaw, is that SUBJECT [10]? Rumor has it that they have the ability of [BIOLOGICAL POISON ON SKIN EXPOSURE/DEATH SIGHT] and are a part of the [LAB RATS CULT], isnât that totally tubular? I heard that their name is [Lyra] and that they are [18] years old. Whatâs their damage? I heard that theyâre [PROTECTIVE & QUICK WITTED] and [DISTANT & UNTRUSTING]. [BETHANY/BETH, SHE/HER, 18, ADT]
Lyra was born in the Hawkins Lab as [010] She has no idea who her parents are and to be honest she doesn't exactly want to find out.
Her powers first presented when she was 8 years old. A scientist had been pulling her along to yet another test. Suddenly both the scientist's hand and Tenâs wrist turned pitch black.Â
The black spread up the scientist's arm, the tissue all dying, until the scientist fell to the ground.
Shortly after Lyra noticed that sometimes when she looked at people she could tell they would die soon and what would cause their death.Â
The deaths she sees are not set in stone. They are just what will happen on the current path of events. Often Ten can warn people and save them.
She can not control her abilities, anytime she touches someone she does poison them. When angry she can cause the poison to spread faster.
She was continually tested on her abilities. She hated killing for the scientists as they worked her up from plants to animals and finally humans.
On the day Eleven accidentally opened the gate to the Upsidedown and released the Demogorgon Ten could suddenly see that most of the scientists were going to die from some kind of creature she couldn't identify.
So she ran. She escaped the lab during the chaos and just kept on running.Â
She hid out in the woods for a while. Eventually, she got hungry and broke into a house to steal something to eat. The owners, a cute old couple, the Jones, caught her breaking in.Â
She has lived with them ever since. They gave her the name Lyra. They raised her, homeschooled her, and got her use to normal life. Eventually, they introduced her to the town as their orphaned granddaughter.
She is still very much uncomfortable in public, she always wears gloves around other people, she's very timid, but finally shes free.
During the mess of Season 2 and 3, she realized that what was going on had a lot to do with the lab she came from. She feels very responsible for what was going on.
