1899 Willie and George Muse were kidnapped from their rural Virginia home, sold and put to work as attractions in various “Freak” and Carnival shows.  At the time black albinos were very rare to see so they became money makers.  Ringling Brothers made them grow dreads, changed their names to Eko and Iko claiming they were savages from Ecuador,  then later they became “Ambassadors from Mars” as noted in last pic above.

Willie and George were not paid for their work and believed as they were told that their mother was dead.  All this changed when 20 years after they were kidnapped, their mother found them and fought for them to be able to go home to her which they finally did in 1927.   Read more on their story at the links below:
