Okay! Back to fun stuff.

My FNAF AU is very similar to actual game lore, but only really involves the core 6 games and UCN. This means the story simply ends after FNAF 6 and UCN, with minor changes to characters for continuity’s sake.

For example, as Springtrap, William Afton does not change suits to become “Scraptrap” after the FNAF 3 fire. He simply becomes a more decrepit, aggressive, and nasty goober. I still need to come up with his design after the fire.

Another thing about this AU is that it also ties in fan games and some of my own FNAF-inspired projects. (I.E., my analog horror project. Which I am honestly taking a break from.) I feel that these are just nice ways to expand the FNAF universe. Anyways, I don’t wanna harp too much on it. Let’s get into my projects:

Something is Rotting in Utah (SIRIU): What started as a fan comic is now transitioning to being a… sigh… fanfic, I guess. Sorry to you guys who like the webcomic style. However, transitioning to writing allows for more detail and characterization. SIRIU follows an outsider girl’s account of the Afton family and events of FNAF up until her untimely disappearance in 1988. I will post the links to read once I have more chapters in and figure out how to tag it. No, it won’t be on AO3. God save us all.

Lowkey nobody knows but the only way I can describe it is friendship-frenemies-trauma bonded-situafriendship?????? Like if you were to ask one of them about the other, they’d be like “d’oh I hate that motherfucker” and then lowkey kind of geek it up. but then again it is up to viewer interpretation. It’s supposed to be relatively confusing because the entirety of Josephine’s story is being viewed by her as a sort of memory. She isn’t exactly going to be a reliable narrator lol

Michael being forced to take care of a mentally ill and severely dysregulated teenager (Claudya) and being unable to comprehend even the idea of wanting to harm her emotionally or physically when she’s having a hard time and realizing that. Damn. Maybe lowkey his father WAS premium evil in treating him like that after all

Rate the new tadc episode bro

SPOILERS FOR TADC UNDER THE CUT!!!! (also Amelie’s subjective opinions)

Ok. You might have to forgive me, but this is my honest take on it. I’m not a super fan of TADC, nor have I seen all the episodes, but I DID do a watch party with my friends for fun and out of curiosity seeing that I’m a film student who wants to work with animated media. Please read my take with a grain of salt! If any of you personally enjoyed the episode, I’m happy for you and I don’t want my opinion to change your perspective. Just because I find a certain piece of media imperfect, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy it. Hell, one of my favorite movies of all time is the FNAF 2 movie, which is pretty ass. This is just me personal opinion, which is entirely subjective. I hope we can be civil about this gang.

Presentation / Animation:

I absolutely adored the animation of this episode. The cinematic lighting was exceptional and I just love the designs of the characters overall. Editing was great. It was lowkey beautiful. I have absolutely no complaints regarding this factor. Good shit bro.

Pacing:

In comparison to the previous episodes I’ve seen, the pacing of this episode wasn’t my favorite. I often felt confused as to what was happening? And I honestly thought that some moments needed to play out significantly longer for emotional depth. Overall, it felt pretty rushed. I presume that’s because of the recent controversies surrounding it, so they probably just wanted to get it out before shit really REALLY hit the fan.

Writing:

This is where my opinions get a little strong, so take it with a grain of salt. There are parts where o felt the writing was REALLY strong. The scenes with Jax after the abstract were pretty good and nuanced, but still felt a bit anticlimactic in some instances. Especially when we first see them abstracted, I didn’t know it was actually THEM at first until it was explicitly stated. I still think everything about Jax after that is written really well and is lowkey kinda beautiful. Another thing that perplexed me was Cain’s return. It felt weirdly like a rushed decision, and also the safest ending?? Again, I think this is because of the controversies. Personally, I think the return was unnecessary. I think it would have felt more climactic, impactful and complete IF Pomni and the gang went finding their identities themselves somehow. Lastly, I think the reveal that they are brain scans should have been saved for later, rather than being explicitly stated at the START of the episode. This really dampened the reveal’s impact, and left out any tension that could’ve potentially been used for the reveal.

Final thoughts + rating:

Overall, while I enjoyed some parts of the final episode, it felt incredibly rushed and incomplete to me. It is pretty anticlimactic, and I really think TADC could have benefitted from a few more episodes to improve the pacing of the last act. It just didn’t really feel like a proper ending to me. However, I have to say I think a LOT of people talking about the ending being literal dogshit are blowing it way out of proportion. It wasn’t the WORST ending to a show I’ve seen in the world, but it definitely didn’t exceed my expectations. It was just… meh.

So I unfortunately give it the rating:

5/10
