Lips pulling back in a toothy grin, Ari watched as he snorted the line with practically no hesitation, and then quickly moved in to pluck the paper roll from his hand. “I’ll take that!” She chirped, walking around him to the other side of the end table. Bending over, she inserted the tip of the paper roll into her nose; using her free hand, she pressed her other nostril flat against her face and snorted the line in one clean movement. Standing up straight again, she tossed the paper roll onto the table and wiped beneath her nose. “They’re oxys by the way – tell me when y’need a bump.”

“Honestly, I don’t give two fucks what it is.” He lied down on the bed as she snorted the line. He could already feel the effects of the pill he had taken from her and now the powder in his system. It was a great relief to be high and lie in silence. “I’m good right now.”

“Good… ‘cause so am I.” Though, she was sure he already knew that just from her appearance alone. Her brows came together at the mention of his parents, creasing deeply as he continued. She knew that things were never as simple as they seemed, so she wasn’t going to give him a pep talk about how he should pursue his own wants and dreams, but she did want his opinion on it all. “…And do you think that’s fair…?”

All the lad could do was shrug. “No. Not at all. But my parents are paying for my school and I’ve put them through enough over the years. I just...” He sighed, running a hand through his hair as he tried to make sense of his thoughts. “I just want to get my life together enough to get out on my own and let my parents and younger siblings have an easy life without me.”

Breathing rapidly, he tried remaining as patient as possible. Listening carefully, all that seemed to register was that he’d fall. “No! No, I don’t want to fall!” Even though the stranger was there to help, the fear was getting in the way of trusting this would end well.

“Slow down your breathing. You’re gonna pass out.” JB told the kid. From the angle he stood at, it was hard to see exactly how the kid was caught. “Okay, I’m gonna push you up and you’re gonna grab that branch. I’m now gonna let you fall, okay. But you have to trust me. Once you’re holding on to the branch, I’ll climb up and untangle you.”

“I don’t know.” Austin automatically latched onto the other as if it’d help him feel more secure. The only thing that helped was knowing he wasn’t alone. “My foot’s caught.” The vine that had his ankle ensnared saved him from a harsh landing. “Do you think you can get me down?”

“Yeah. I can. Just hang tight.” Holding on to the lad, he stared up into the tree. He could see what the lad was caught on now. “I’ve got your weight, the vine doesn’t look that strong. Try to give it a pull. See if you can break it.”

Ari’s smirk only seem to intensify on her face, blue eyes slightly narrowed as she glanced over at him. Despite everything, they got one another, and that was rare in Arizona’s world. At his suggestion, the long haired brunette turned to look at the glass. “Good call.” She said with a snap of her fingers, pointing her index finger at JB as she walked back to the table. Lifting the glass, she easily began to crush the pill beneath it, until it had become a light powdery substance. She picked up the small piece of paper she’d rolled into her personal tool, and looked back to JB, offering it to him. “Y’still want some?” She asked, fully willing to give him a free line.

JB stared at Ari and then at the line. He wasn’t sure what was more of a surprising off--the drugs or who they were coming from. Either way, he wasn’t going to refuse. Anything to get the voices to stop helped. “I’ll take the offer while I can.” He smiled a thanks and took the rolled up piece of paper. In a quick motion, he snorted the line, making a small face of discomfort as the powder tickled his nose.

“Ohhh,” she cooed through an exhale, nodding her head in understanding. “I thought you were going to say you were something like thirty.” She added shortly after a pause, the corners of her lips twitching into a somewhat embarrassed smirk. Honestly, she felt relieved more than anything – had it turned out that she had snuggled up to a thirty year old, she would have been felt something closer to put off. “What are you studying?”

JB laughed loudly at the thought. “No. I’m just a kid. I’m studying to be an elementary school teacher. It’s what my parents want. I wanna dance. I would love to own my own studio and teach kids that way. But since appa is paying for college, that really isn’t going to happen any time soon. He thinks that dance should just be a hobby.”

As his arm was now around her, the brunette leaned into his side, resting her head on his shoulder. However big or small the comfort that was being offered to her was, she needed it; in this case, it soothed her extensively. “If you hardly sleep, you should come find me more often.” She said, lifting her chin to look up at his face. “But, yeah… the ‘rewind’ kind’ve fucked with me too…” At her own admission, she lowered her chin again and closed her eyes, nuzzling him as she scooted another space toward him, making herself as close to him as she could get. “I think those tests are going to be the only thing close to normal here. What do you think?”

JB rubbed small circle’s on the older’s shoulder, attempting to bring her a little comfort--even though it was something he was never good at. “I’ll probably do that. The solitary is killing me.” He wrapped his other arm around her, practically pulling the girl into his lap. “It appears to be so. It seems like we’re getting them pretty regularly.”

Ari’s lips narrowed in the middle of her mouth, pressing together as she sat up on JB with one leg on each side of his ribs. There wasn’t any pain inflicted from their fall that she couldn’t ignore, and she could only assume the same for him. Upon snatching the pill from his hand, she squeezed her thighs together against his ribs, jabbing his sides with her knees turned in, every intention to cause him to at least wince written clear in her smirking expression. “Didn’t yer ma’ ever tell ya never t’get between a fuckin’ junkie and her goddamn drugs?” Using her free hand to boost herself up off of his ribcage, the brunette walked over to her bed side table, where she left the pill. Meanwhile, she went looking around for something to crush it with.

JB felt the girl’s skinny legs digging into his sides and did his best not to make a face. Her bony knees were a discomfort, but he wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of letting her know that he was uncomfortable. “My ma told me to take my meds. Never told me about anyone else’s.” He shrugged and pushed himself up into a sitting position. “Use the glass on your end table.”

Kass didn’t wait another beat before walking into his room, an overall relieved expression finding her features. She bee-lined for his bed and took a seat upon reaching it, adjusting herself for a few seconds before she was comfortable. “Thanks,” she smiled at him, nudging him with her knee. “I hate being up alone when almost everyone else is in bed. What’s keeping you up?”

JB wrapped an arm around the girl’s shoulder, rubbing her arm gently. “I hardly ever sleep anymore. Nightmares and voices and the like...then the whole...the trip back home...”

Somewhere along the way of climbing the tall tree in the courtyard, Austin tripped in his attempt to step over a bump. The boy had thought it’d be fun to see how close to the sky he could get; however, the moment he reached the branch and stood to his full height, his view of the world shifted all too quickly. Crying out as he fell and expected to hit the ground, his left foot tangled within the thick vines. Flailing a bit while dangling upside down, the shaggy haired boy wondered if today was his lucky day. Now he just had to find a way down. “Hey, hey you! A little help!” A queasy feeling caused his stomach to tremble as he prayed that the only thing keeping him from being injured wouldn’t snap.

JB stared at the boy hanging in the tree. “How did you do this?” He asked, grabbing the boy’s shoulder and supporting the kid’s weight. “What’s stuck?”

Ari’s lips pulled into a crooked smirk, naturally high brows raising a little more. She felt challenged, playfully, but challenged nonetheless, though she wasn’t going to act on it – and it wasn’t until he made a reach for a second pill that she did. Pushing herself up to a semi-standing position, she suddenly leaped across the short space to her bed and jumped on top of JB, hands locking around his wrists. “Y’lil’ shit!” She snapped, fully prepared to wrestle him for the pill, though a genuine laugh quickly chased her words.

JB laughed loudly as the girl attacked him, sending them tumbling on to the ground. He landed with a thud on the ground and a groan when she landed on top of him. “You really are a junkie.” He chuckled, opening his hand to reveal the pill. “Take it if you’re that desperate.” He laughed happily, even though there was a tinge of seriousness in his voice. For as long as JB has known Ari, he had always worried about her.

JB didn’t have a clue where to look. Out of respect he felt he should look at her eyes. But goddamn, what she was doing with her bra was hot. His eyes wandered over her body, taking in the silkiness of her boobs and the curve of her hips. A small groan left his lips as her hands went down his sides. Why did she have to be such a tease? He rolled his hips up, grinding his bulge against her hand.

Through JB’s response, Smithers’ expression was an even mix of confusion and surprise. He didn’t look old enough to be a college student in her opinion, but she assumed that was probably something he was proud of. Most people were after preserving their youth, even while they were still young. “Wait a minute, how old are you?” She asked, her tone salted with disbelief.

JB laughed quietly. “I’m nineteen. I was home schooled through most of my education, so I was I got my GED and enrolled in classes at the local college when I was seventeen. I’m about half way through getting my bachelors degree.” He explained with a proud smile. It was something that he liked to talk about. It was something good that was happening in his life. Even if he had to take most of his classes online because he was in and out of the hospital so much. It was still something to be proud of.

The fact that it was Kass and he knew enough about her past to know that she wasn’t exaggerating when she said that was a reassurance. Especially because he had no clue at all what he was doing. Just do what feels good, one of the voices told him. Having her on top of him felt good. His hands on her chest felt good. What would make it feel better? Another voice asked. In response to the voice only he heard, he reached behind her back and unhooked her bra.
