Le Petit Prince & Matilda

I didn’t have time to post yesterday (bro’s 24th b-day woop woop), but I did read a book, Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I have already read The Little Prince, but yesterday I read the Spanish translation, El Principito, which was obviously the same story but a different experience reading it. I read most of it while eating breakfast and right before bed. Today I read Matilda by Roald Dahl. I really like it and I finished it pretty quickly just after dinner.

Return of the King

Today’s book was Return of the King by JRR Tolkien. After reading The Hobbit about two years ago, I finally finished the Lord of the Rings series. RotK is shorter than the first two and I love Tolkien so it wasn’t hard to read. It did not affect anyone else

The Glass Menagerie

Today I read The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. It was a short play that was pretty easy to incorporate into my day. It was actually nice to be able to take a break from all of the Thanksgiving chaos and just read. It did not affect anyone else.

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie

Today’s book, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley, was nothing short of magnificent. I fell in love with the genius, sassy eleven-year-old chemist/detective. It was slightly harder to finish since it was longer. It just took some concentration at the end of the night to get through the ending, but I enjoyed every bit of it. The only way it affected others was that I told anyone who would listen about how much I loved it. 10/10 recommend.

The Red Pony

Today I read The Red Pony by John Steinbeck. I this his shorter work is better than his longer novels like Grapes of Wrath. They’re truer to Steinbeck’s character, I feel. I read it at work. I work at a pool and it’s pretty cold right now so literally three people came in. It was easy to read and didn’t affect anyone else. I liked the book well enough but the ending didn’t feel conclusive or even climactic it felt like he ended the book in the middle of a chapter.

Wonder

Today I read Wonder by RJ Palacio. I got some reading in while waiting at the dentist because my tooth broke in half! I finished the book right after dinner. It’s a pretty simple book with short vignette/chapters and when I read books I like to read one chapter at a time so it was really easy for me to get through the book little by little. I got to talk to my sister about the book after I read it because she had also read it.

Hello World!

For my English class, I will be reading and finishing one book a day for the # TSNchallenge! Today’s book was Cat Among the Pigeons by Agatha Christie. Reading this gave me a good excuse to take a break from the chaoticness of Thanksgiving prep (yes my family starts extremely early). I read at work, at home, while eating and drinking coffee. It wasn’t difficult to incorporate into my day and the only person whom it affects besides myself was my mother who was annoyed at my reading at the table. The book was great, Agatha Christie never fails to surprise her readers with the answer to the mystery. Also, it is set at an all-girls school and I go to an all-girls school so I could relate to the atmosphere preceding the murder.
