Actually, he’s not wrong. For Black women, a period is called such because it should LITERALLY appear to be a drop of blood, hence a PERIOD. Heavy blood flow is caused from hemorrhaging in the system, which isn’t natural. That’s why it hurts, as I would imagine. It really does involve diet.

- Self examination should be done at least once a month, several days after your period to ensure that the breasts are not swollen. 

- Don’t panic if you feel a lump .. most women have lumpy breasts and it isn’t unusual . 

- Breasts tend to have different “neighborhoods.” The upper, outer area — near your armpit — tends to have the most prominent lumps and bumps. The lower half of your breast can feel like a sandy or pebbly beach. The area under the nipple can feel like a collection of large grains. Another part might feel like a lumpy bowl of oatmeal.

- Interestingly, cancerous tumors are more likely to be found in certain parts of the breast over others. If you divide the breast into 4 sections, the approximate percentage of breast cancers found in each area are (in clockwise pattern):

41% upper, outer quadrant

14% upper, inner quadrant

5% lower, inner quadrant

6% lower, outer quadrant

34% in the area behind the nipple

Almost half occur in the upper outer quadrant of the breast, towards the armpit. Some physicians refer to this region as the “tail” of the breast and encourage women to examine it closely.

The point of this self examination is to get to know your breasts!  so any differences or abnormalities will be easier to detect. 

If you find any chances contact your doctor !! Early diagnosis and screening is key for survival and for better chances of recovery!
