I can't tell if the last reblog on your MCR isn't political post is meant to be satire or not LMFAO. What the hell are they even trying to say
Well sweet anon I briefly saw the other comments (I haven’t gone to tbpt yet but I will next summer so I’m not as caught up in the new lore and can’t offer any opinions on that so no spoilers please!) that ppl put in their Reblogs of my last post and here’s where I come from:
With the rise of the MAGA movement/cult in the past decade there have been a rise what I like to call “fake fans” of punk or pop-punk bands. These fans believe in the MAGA movement and will dress and act like alternative folks but don’t have the alternative or punk beliefs. This argument has come up once again on TikTok and other platforms lately. Which is why I posted what I did because I was sick of ppl saying My Chem isnt political. When it concerns My Chem, ppl will say that they aren’t political which is entirely false as the band was formed after 9/11 and songs from Bullets up to the black parade do have political songs and themes. To me, Danger Days is their (My Chem’s) political album much like “The Wall”, “Us and them” and “Money” is a political album and songs for Pink Floyd.
The same can be said for other songs that aren’t necessarily political but politicians have been named-dropped in a negative way (rightfully so). Which is the case for TX and FL governors Greg Abbot and Ron Desantis that had “Big Man Little Dignity” dedicated to them when Paramore played that song in FL and TX in 2023 & 2024.
Sweet anon I won’t assume you’re in the US but personally I live in a deep red (conservative) state which did vote in favor for Trump and personally I’m an anarchist/leftist in this state. I stand out. I did vote for Kamala and I don’t regret a gd thing.
However, with the rise of violence from ICE especially with the past week we saw the deaths of Renee Good and Keith Porter. We can see many similarities with BLI and ICE and how their main objective is to eliminate and punish those who disagree with the regime. We look at the Killjoy comics and Danger Days album and say to ourselves there’s no way this could happen in America or another country. But here in America, ICE is now one of the most funded law enforcement non-military agency in this country. Things are obviously not good here. I point out the similarities between BLI and ICE because us (Americans) need to come together as the Killjoys did to fight for what’s right! No more missing neighbors, organizing within our communities online and in the real world, listening to marginalized groups and helping others (safely) if we witness a ICE raid.
To tie this together:
1. Yes that was a political statement
2.Yes MCR is political
3. If theres My Chem fans that think they aren’t political they clearly weren’t listening
