đłď¸âđđłď¸ââ§ď¸ GOOD queer news for the TL: a bunch of students across the U.S. are using grants to make their schools more welcoming for LGBTQ+ youth
Queer students deserve to feel safe at school! We're in our third year of giving grants to put the power in their hands to make their schools more welcoming - students know what they need most in their own communities and their own schools.
Through 50 States, 50 Grants, 5,000 Voices, we've awarded over $1.5 million in grants across the U.S. to support student-led projects. Our third season has some of the most badass projects yet, like these:
â¤ď¸ âWith this grant, weâll establish an LGBTQIA+ community space in the library, open to all students, with guest speakers, arts and crafts, LGBTQIA+ books and literature, and LGBTQIA+-specific resources.â - Pocatello, Idaho
𧥠âOur project aims to support LGBTQ+ students through teacher training, development of gender-neutral bathroom protocols, and the organization of a district-wide Queer Prom.â - Gypsum, Colorado
đ âWeâll take students from the 3 middle schools and our local high school to Honolulu Pride to make local LGBTQ+ friends, feel accepted in a large group, and see the community beyond just school.â - Ewa Beach, Hawai'i
đ âWeâre going to increase access to queer literature by working with a local nonprofit to expand our schoolâs collection, host storytelling events, and foster community connection." - Mobile, Alabama
đ âOur plan is to create new Inclusivity Zones across the state in critical areas for local GSA clubs to meet, plan shared events, and be their own safe space.â - Charleston, West Virginia
đ âWeâll host the Rainbow Youth Summit for LGBTQIA+ youth from across southern California to network, learn, and have fun in a safe, judgement free and supportive environment.â - Cathedral City, California
These students are truly the definition of making things better - you can see the rest of the amazing projects lined up across the country on our blog here!
How to Finish
I drew this poster for Jon Acuff and his FINISH book tour. Big thanks to Jon for this collaboration, his book has some great ideas about how to complete creative and life goals.
Love this, but reblogging it specifically for âGet rid of secret rules.â Thatâs one of the most amazing illustrationsâand pointsâIâve ever seen.
so important especially for perfectionists who procrastinate and never finish, or even start because they set such high standards for themselves.

What's wrong with Gandhi?
Where do I begin?
- Criticized the Jews for defending themselves against the Holocaust because he insisted that they should have committed public mass suicide in order to âshameâ the Germans instead of fighting back. His exact words were, âBut the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcherâs knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from the cliffs. As it is, they succumbed anyway in their millions.â
- Wrote an open letter to the British people in 1940 telling them to surrender to the Axis even if it mean accepting genocide.
- Was very anti-black. I hope you can stomach reading how he treated black people in South Africa. Itâs fucking disgusting.
- Refused his wife life-saving medication (for religious reasons), but those religious reasons all of a sudden no longer applied to him when he was in a similar position.
- Refused to have sex with his wife for the last 38 years of their marriage. He felt that in order to test his commitment to celibacy, he would have beautiful young women (including his own great niece) lie next to him naked through the night. His wife, whom he described as looking like a âmeek cowâ was no longer desirable enough to be a solid test.
- Believed that Indian women who were raped lost their value as a human.
- During his time as a dissident in South Africa, he discovered that a young male was harassing two of his female followers. He responded by cutting the girlsâ hair off to ensure the âsinnerâs eyeâ was âsterilized.â He later boasted about the incident in his writings, pushing the message to all Indians that women should carry responsibility for sexual attacks upon them.
- Argued that fathers could be justified in killing daughters who had been sexually assaulted for the sake of family and community honor.
- Believed that menstruation was a manifestation of the distortion of a womanâs soul by her sexuality.
- Waged a war against contraceptives, labeling Indian women who used them as whores.
- Held the attitude that women were simply creatures that could bring either pride or shame to the men who own them.

Gandhi was a piece of shit and I hate when people site him as this peaceful angelic type of dude..
@agnesandcecilia in case u ever need receipts
The reason why Ghandi is so revered is the same reason MLK was whitewashedâ it pushes this notion that itâs noble to protest in such a way that doesnât inconvenience anybody.
I⌠I wouldâve liked to learn this in schoolâŚ
