DFO - Female Crusader Stained Glass.
So, turns out, DFO is having another art contest, and that means I need to learn a new skill. Considering the theme of this contest was their new class “Female Priest,” I thought it would be fitting to attempt stained glass.
After countless YouTube videos, I decided that I’ll try to make a design of my own
Then transferred it over to paper
Upon cutting one single piece, I’ve realized that I am an idiot for thinking I could cut something that small. So, I made the pieces bigger:
Here are the tools I used for the cutting part.
The process basically followed like this.. I would cut a piece, trace it on a piece of glass, then cut it using a glass cutter. I also had these nifty pliers that would help me break the glass better once there’s a score on it. I would also Dremel the edges if they were off by a smidge.
Oh! Then I would label each piece so that I can put them back together when I went to go attach ‘em together.
After cutting all the pieces, then came time to put them together. I used a somewhat thin piece (I forgot the exact dimensions) of copper tape to wrap around each piece. Then I would arrange them in the way I had originally planned.
After all the pieces are wrapped in copper, I then tacked some solder on the corners of every piece so that it would stay in one spot. Once everything is secured, I had to go through every edge and cover it with solder. Very tedious. :)
My desk (and life) became such a mess T ^ T
I also burned my hand because I didn’t respect the soldering iron enough T ^ T
Regardless, I think the final product looks pretty good. I learned a lot of stuff with this, and there’s certainly room for much, much improvement (like the fact that it’s not completely lined up)
Maybe I’ll frame it at some point.
