How do you make lineless art?

I don’t have a good short answer other than “learn how to shade”, but here’s two tricks I use all the time:

Using darker shades for objects that are behind another object is a cheap but effective way of adding depth:

Occlusion shadows and rim lighting can fill the same role as line art in defining creases and outlines:

Aside from that it’s mostly spending a lot of time refining edges

how long have you been drawing? any advice to artists who seek to improve?

I started drawing around 2012 when I downloaded a little drawing app for the 3DS, and later picked up a cheap tablet so I didn’t have to deal with that cramped 3″ screen.

This probably isn’t the best advice to give as I’m not the most disciplined artist, but here are a few things:

Make it a point to draw often. I find if I go a few weeks without drawing anything my ability to draw atrophies considerably, and then it takes a long time to get back up to speed.

Collect lots references and drawing guides and try to actually use them from time to time. It’s easy to just hoard them and never look at them. Try following them at least once the minute you download them.

Don’t be afraid to ask others for help or criticism. I’m admittedly not great at following this myself, but asking for a little help has saved some of my drawings from going into the trash bin.

Hey there, Just writing to say good luck in the future with w/e the heck is happening in Tumbles. I'm not sure how much it means to ya but thanks for sharing your work for as long as you have, I'm sure I speak for many when I say we appreciate the great work you do. Hope you keep drawing for a long time, make a ko-fi or Patreon sometime your pretty good at what you do.

Will these doodles be uploaded anywhere else?

Maybe. A lot of them are kind of rushed and not the greatest quality since I wanted to get them in before the 17th, but I may return to clean a few of them up and post them later.

If you're gonna migrate to a new site I don't recommend Twitter, they are going to follow Tumblr in purging NSFW content soon as it was Anti-Sexworker laws that are the root cause of Tumblr nuking it's NSFW content. I highly recommend Newgrounds as a better alternative for your art as they aren't subject to this shit. Please share this.

I’ll worry about that when the time comes. For now I’m not in any rush to sign up for a million different sites.

talked to twitter support and got my account unsuspended without needing to hand over a phone number. Not sure how much I’ll be using this or how long it will stay unsuspended for, but I figure I’d post it.

I’ll probably continue to use tumblr for the time being, as it seems the ban wave has stopped for now.
