She could see the confusion. It made her happy. Not in a malicious way, but she enjoyed how he looked at her. She rested her head on his shoulder, bony thing that it was, before leading him slowly towards the kitchens. They squeezed his hand tightly as they stepped in the kitchen. âThatâs my secret, friend. She moved to start fixing food, grabbing jerky and bread. âMy caretaker taught me this. When we were short on food, whether my master was being selfish or just cruel, we would always have to make do with certain things. Boil water, salt and pepper...â She slowly set out cooking, adding things to the boil before throwing chunks of the jerky and bread in. âJerky and dumplings. Always a treat.â
