Whose Hand Was I Holding...?
herald | holding hands
Sometimes you get caught stealing one too many times. How many times is too many? One, apparently, if you're going to Garreg Mach. It was rare for Nina to get caught during the act, that much she usually had locked down-- what she wasn't expecting, however, was to see two...very handsome men across from the stall she was "borrowing" from. How was she supposed to focus!? It had to be on purpose, the way they were practically kissing in front of her--
Now she was stuck to Kana. Literally.
...But this isn't...the Kana she knows, right...? She looks different. She's a...she?
There's about a million questions left hanging in the air. Nina looks at where their palms meet, unblinking, trying to make sense of...any of it. Maybe this isn't actually Kana...? Did Kana have a twin this whole time...?
"Soooooo...Kanaaaaaaa...?" She lets her words draw out, moving her arm slightly, as if to test if they truly were stuck together. "You're...different. Did you cut your hair or something?" Nina chuckles nervously, now more focused on the mysterious second Kana than the fact that they're stuck together. "I didn't even know you were here!"

The cap is lowered over his eyes, keeping his field of vision narrowed to a small strip of ground before him like blinkers on a steed. There is some vague sense of unease, buried deep within — hardly proper attire for an archer — before being overtaken by a sense of blank obligation.
His castle (Yngvi castle?) is under attack, and he must defend it.
The chestnut steed advances at a cautious canter, hooves clopping noisily against the stone floor that formed the interior of the castle. The attack had been ongoing, stricken walls threatening to crumble at the slightest pressure. Perhaps that is the reason why he had resorted to riding his steed directly into the halls, he thinks, before that thought, too, disappears into blankness.
He senses movement without explicitly seeing it, a shadow passing through a slit in the rubble ahead of him, and he pulls his steed to a stop, raising the bow in his hands.
(An unfamiliar bow, an unfamiliar steed, an unfamiliar outfit.)
It does not matter. He must eliminate the intruder.

There is a mission to complete, that much is clear...that much she can remember. Her mind swirls as she awakens, bow already in hand...and yet, something is missing.
The mask on her face is grounding, foreign for just a single moment before she remembers-- she is a thief of the night, meant to rob the rich. And yet...and yet...?
"Where is she...?" The words leave her lips before she can even process what they mean. That's right-- someone else should be by her side. There should be another thief, working hand in hand. Where is she...? How is she meant to do this all on her own?
Robbing the castle is second in her mind. She knows she must find the other thief first. "Maybe...she went ahead."
The halls are strange, empty, almost as if there was never anything to steal hidden within. That can't be true. Nina knows what she was sent here to do.
Eyes narrow, looking through the cracks of the wall-- something is on the other side. Someone.
Quietly, she raises her bow, pulling the string taunt, readying herself for their attack, to retaliate. Her mission...she can't...fail now, not here. She has to find her.
what a wonderful cat life
herald | cat cafe
As soon as Nina arrived, there was one thing she noticed pretty quickly: there were stray animals everywhere. Nina spent most of her meals here sneaking food over to them (her own and...well, some scraps from the kitchen she was sure no one would miss too terribly), sneaking a few into rooms while no one was looking so they didn't have to sleep in the cold. So, of course, when news of the cafe opening up started going around, Nina was one of the first to want to check it out.
...And, truth be told, she was really tempted to help out. Actually working there seemed a bit...embarrassing. She always did her best work in the shadows, away from preying eyes.
It was another cold day, one where being inside of a cafe sounded better than anything else in the world-- and yet, Nina found herself unable to move forward. It shouldn't be so hard to walk up and ask to help. She could even ask to specifically work with the cats rather than the cafe part. Why was it such a big deal?
So lost in her own thoughts, she hardly noticed the sound of footsteps approaching. Probably just a customer-- they could walk past her, it was no big deal...

Even as a king he cannot escape punishment for his recklessness. It's good that he can't, his status should not excuse his bad behavior. It wasn't as if he hadn't been aware, dueling during the ball and then sneaking out with Lyon, and it wasn't that he didn't care or thought himself above such rules. He really has no excuse.
But he also knows he wouldn't do anything differently.
Clean up for the ball isn't so bad anyway. He makes short work of folding tables and chairs, transporting them where they need to go and directing others if needed. The faster they get this done, the better really.
Throughout it all, however, there is one girl who is staring at him. He keeps expecting her to stop but even when he's turned from her he knows she still does so. It's so blatant a few have pointed it out to him.
Well, enough is enough.
After he helps move a box of decorations, he turns his attention toward her, approaching with an even, stoic expression.
"You there. Why do you keep staring at me?" Better to just get to the bottom of this.
By now, she should really be used to the fact that people can see her ogling at them. It wasn't as if she ever was very discreet about it. But now, even as the stranger clearly moved his attention onto her, Nina was entirely lost in thought.
'I can already see that other guy is looking at his muscles! The way he picks up those boxes is so--'
It's his words that finally break through the fog of imagination she's placed herself in, leaning over the handle of the mop. In her panic, trying to straighten herself, she tumbles forward, a halfhearted attempt to catch herself as she falls to the floor.
"W-what? I wasn't staring at you! I was just-- admiring your technique! I mean, I've seen a lot of people throw out their backs just by lifting something the wrong way!" Her eyes scan over the room, trying to find a somewhat fitting example-- another man in the corner, lifting a few leftover chairs. Honestly, he was doing pretty poorly. So much so, this other guy could probably go over there, wrap his arms around him and--
'Snap out of it, Nina!'
"Anyway-- we should go back to cleaning, shouldn't we? Sorry for distracting you, won't happen again!"
...Was that enough to get him off her back for now?
don't tell the bride
herald | secret shop
Well, that's not how she was hoping that would go.
Nina wasn't a bad thief, not at all-- in fact, she thought she was pretty good at what she did. So, the fact that they were able to catch her throws her off entirely. Then again, it was a secret shop...they were probably used to thieves sneaking in.
Before Nina could speak her defense, claim that she had an invitation, make up some excuse that would at least give her time to come up with more, they gave her her in.
"Listen, kid...if you really want to come in, just come back with your partner, eh?"
It was perfect, almost too easy. All she had to do was bring her partner and she could see what was inside!
...Except...she was single. Like, painfully single. Did that mean there was no hope...? Maybe trying to sneak in again would work, but...
Her eyes scan the area, watching as, as the shopkeep had said, couples were pouring into the building without any sort of push back. Maybe, then...
"You--!" Her voice is a bit loud as she hones in on the only person that seems to be without a partner...who...wasn't male. Not that she would mind, but...she'd rather see them link arms with someone else.
"Are you also trying to get in there? Listen-- if you do me a favour, like a reaaaally big favour, I can get you in."

This SUCKS.
Nina hardly had the chance to unpack her bags and get a feel for the place before being roped into work. Though she tried to play her hand-- sickness and exhaustion from the long trip-- it doesn't seem to land her anywhere good. No, in fact, it ends with her getting stuck with about twice the work she would've gotten if she had just gone along with it in the first place.
Thankfully, Nina soon found that being on cleaning duty really wasn't that bad. While it was far from exciting...it gave her the perfect opportunity to "people watch".
She could hardly focus on cleaning. Her broom has hardly moved, the dust beneath is simply being moved from side to side rather than piled up. One guy in particular was really catching his eye, even standing all on his own...!
('Hehehe...I wonder...maybe another one of the guys will start struggling with those heavy boxes...that guy looks pretty strong, right!? I bet he could lift them easily...even better, he could sweep them right off their feet--')
The expression on her face was...off putting, so much that others were staying clear of her upon noticing. Not that she really cared, completely focused on a certain someone.
