ânothing comes or goes without a shadowâ
i never fully thought about this lyric until now. it shows how everyone we meet leaves a lasting impression on our lives, even if they donât stay in our lives forever. alice has to live her life without alfred, but their love has changed alice and sheâll never be the same person she was before she fell in love with him. and thatâs such a bittersweet concept.
gif request meme: alice by heart + most heartbreaking scene (requested by @much-brighter-ink)
Those Long Eyes // Afternoon
I absolutely love these parallels. During the lobster dance, Alfred dances with Alice (even though he feels awkward about it) because he wants to make her happy. In âAfternoonâ, he initiates the same dance to cheer her up again :,)
we found wonderland,
you and i got lost in it,
and life was never worse
but never better

fake ABH poster i drew 3 weeks ago đ pls click for quality <3
Me? Posting abh content that doesn't have anything to do with the irrelevant minor characters?? It's more likely than you think
Also the quality is making me cry sdkdjdkdj I would appreciate if you clicked
âShe canât take it from you, can she? No one can.â
hello abh fandom accept my offering
no but when alice says âthe caterpillar gazes on a world of older facesâ sheâs confessing she doesnât want to grow up without him, but then alfred sings âbut the butterflies go floating all the same,â reassuring her sheâs gonna be okay and blossom regardlessÂ
sorry, i canât see facts through all of my fury.
hello to the 6 other abh fans
Alice by Heart đ I need 5-10 business days to recover from the emotional damage this beautiful show gave međ⨠liquifying the Alice in wonderland pages in is the funnest part of making this illustration!

Look, I know there isnât any orange lighting in this number, I just needed some warmth (and I was watching Tangled with my brother. Pretty lights.) This was supposed to be a sketch, but I ended up coloring it. Took 45 minutes instead of 15 :/
I also just realized I never made any proper fanart for this show.Â
My little brother likes to fall asleep to this song. Itâs stuck in my head.
what is Alice by heart
hohhohohohhohohoohohhooh bestie
Alice by Heart is a musical written by the same guy who wrote Spring Awakening (which I have always found funny) and it is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland.
you're probably like "okay but why is it so great"
ill telll you
THIS retelling, features a maybe 15-18 member cast all of which plays multiple characters, except for the female lead, who only plays Alice, as they exist inside of a bomb shelter during WW2.
The entire musical takes place in this one setting, namely a 1940s underground station that serves as a bomb shelter that is beautifully detailed and like, really fantastic.
The musical is about Alice, who claims she knows the book "Alice in Wonderland" by heart and doesn't need the book that the nurse watching them tore up to tell the story. She begins to re-tell this story to her best friend who is very sick and also plays the white rabbit.
If you overlook the sorta horrible British accents they have throughout the show, it's wonderful.
This musical cover the topic of first love, first loss, the fear of growing up, and the fear of running out of time all in one go and handles it beatifully.
but then like, even the way she handles storytelling is great, because the lead is fully convinced she does not need to tell the story exactly how it happens and loves to extend or forget some of the scenes.
In her eyes, her best friend is sick, and by extending this story she is saving his life.
she takes her time, making an already odd story even odder with harmonies in minor thirds and diminished sevenths and duets that are strange and out of place and so very loved.
"Alice by Heart" is a great example of a strange way to retell a fairy tale that I wish more people would take advantage of.
and the urge to write a fanfiction that re-tells a story like this is so high.
ID: a digital drawing divided into three sections based on the musical Alice by Heart. the first section is of alfred surrounded by rose petals and some playing cards on an orange background with numbers from a clock behind him. he is facing slightly away, holding his pocket watch. there are pages from a book near him and gold swirls. the second is of a wonderland scene on a purple background with roses, trees, hills, hanging clocks, and a tea party table. the cheshire cat is on a branch and there are more pages, petals, and playing cards, as well as stars in the background and white swirls. the third is of alice on a blue-purple background; she is turning slightly away, holding her book. there are pages and stars near her, and candles and black and pink flowers. there is a full moon and gold swirls in the sky with tree roots from the trees of the second section. end ID]
