"How this little beauty came to be in my care: A Story "It was a time of my life when I was just beginning to figure out who I was. The skating, the cute girlfriend, the stage acting, the awkward social interactions. It was high school. Yet, as I began to find my wings labeled "adult size", a few things stood the test of time as remnants of an earlier me, and one of those things was The Legend of Zelda. It was in this state, walking down the hall between classes one day, that I heard something my ears never imagined: the sound of "The Song of Time" being played... By what sounded like a real Ocarina, no less! I frantically looked around to try to get a glimpse of the source and a young man, who I didn't yet know, had in his hand a small beige colored ocarina. It was, in fact, the "Fairy Ocarina" from the Zelda game "Ocarina of Time." Just as frantically I asked where he got the magical item. "Songbird Ocarina" he responded. I would from then on, never forget that name. Back at home, a quick search on our dial up internet (irony intended) led me to the treasure trove known as "songbirdocarina.com" as I feasted my eyes on objects too perfect to be real. Torn straight from my Nintendo 64 were an assortment of Ocarinas. All sizes, all types, all Zelda, and indeed, all real. "But how do I purchase one of these Godly items, for lo, I am but a measly high school student, and lack the mature dimensions known as 'jobhood,'" I thought to myself. I guess that's what cute girlfriends and birthdays are good for ;) Years later (somewhere around 14 to be exact) the divine sweet potato still sits on a select surface, no matter the setting, house, or company. And I'd like to think it always enjoys the times when I pick it up to play a little bit of the Song of Time."
