Brellas have both offensive and defensive capabilities. Press the fire button to shoot ink, and hold it down to open the umbrella and protect yourself. If you keep holding the button, you can launch the umbrella forward.
Get the hang of using Brellas for offense and defense with their shotgun bursts and the umbrella as a shield, and this can be a valuable weapon.
Sloshers spill a lot of ink and excel at dealing with groups of Salmonids. They are also great at hitting foes on higher ground or behind obstacles.
Practice makes perfect, especially with Sloshers due to making sure you can get your aim right with the distance that a single swing of ink from a Slosher can cover, but when it comes to Exploshers, make sure to know where you're lobbing those mortars to cause maximum damage.
Chargers release long shots when you charge them up. At maximum they can actually penetrate through Salmonids, so try to hit foes that are arranged into straight lines.
I'm usually a poor shot with Chargers, but now that I don't have to worry about sub-weapons consuming my ink, and I can upgrade them, I'll be able to get more bang for my buck if I can improve my sharpshooting skills fighting the Salmonids with them.
We've had to adjust our profile on the Big Shot Boss Salmonid—it now hops to get around while slamming cannonballs down to produce shockwaves. If you defeat them in a way that causes them to drop those cannonballs, the shockwaves will affect Salmonids instead of you!
This is an interesting tweak they made to the Big Shots for Splatoon Raiders. No more loading their cannonballs into their cannons to create shockwaves near the Egg Basket. Now they just use them directly to create the shockwaves themselves, and splatting a Big Shot causes their cannonball to end up being turned against their brethren before breaking.
Inklings and Octolings have beef (fish?) with Salmonids, wild creatures that come ashore and make a mess. These new Seasoned Salmonids in Splatoon Raiders are extra dangerous with more powerful attacks and increased defense. You can tell them apart by the salt deposits on them.
Those Seasoned Salmonids are going to be a challenge since they are a lot tougher and more durable than their regular counterparts in the Boss Salmonids.
The Flipper-Flopper is a Boss Salmonid that shoots a ring to ink the ground and then dives into that ring to attack. Ink the ground before it lands and its dive will fail, leaving it vulnerable.
Got to love being able to still fight these guys with a few tweaks to their attack strategies.
The Splatellites are a gadget for the Power Tank. They spin ink around you in a protective circle which hits both the ground and nearby Salmonids.
This is one gadget I'm going to use a lot because of the defensive strategy it can be used for.
The Fish Stick is a Boss Salmonid made up of a tall pillar and a platoon of eight Smallfry. You can climb the pillar to defeat all of the Smallfry, but the Fish Sticks of the Spirhalite Islands can also be brought down to earth by attacking the propellers at the bottom.
You know, I'm liking how they make the Salmonids here, especially some of the Boss Salmonids, easier to splat compared to their Salmon Run brethren.
The Steelhead is a Boss Salmonid that inflates a bomb on its head and throws it at you. It's vulnerable while the bomb itself is being inflated. Though covered in hard scales, it seems the Steelheads of the Spirhalite Islands do take minor damage from body shots.
I do like how the Steelheads here don't have the protective armor their Salmon Run brethren do, but still have some tough durability with trying to splat them with body shots rather than blowing up their ink bomb to splat it along with any unlucky Salmonids next to it when it blows.
The Dash Bomb is a gadget for the Speed Tank. It explodes immediately when used, and the force propels you quickly in a direction of your choosing. You can use it concurrently with your weapon to run circles around Salmonids while shooting ink at them.
That's a good combo to easily get out of a tight spot when dealing with multiple Boss Salmonids at once.
Slammin' Lids pilot a disc-shaped flying vehicle. They create a force field underneath themselves and spawn in Lesser Salmonids. If you enter the force field, they'll try to crush you by falling down—but if you use that to get on top of them, you'll have the advantage.
I wonder if you can bait them to take out Boss Salmonids as you can with their Salmon Run counterparts...

The Shellacker is a gadget for the Power Tank. Charge it up and it will launch a round that can unleash a devastating explosion. While a fully charged shot is incredibly powerful, finding the time to charge up can be a challenge.
That's an interesting gadget that wasn't shown in the Direct last month. I'll be interested in trying it out myself once I find one or craft it.
The Bombloons are a gadget for the Tactical Tank. They float in the air & explode when hit by a weapon. If you deploy two or more, they can connect to each other & explode at the same time. Master this aspect of this gadget & you'll clear out a horde of Salmonids with one blast!
That's an interested gadget for the Tactical Tank, and I'll be very interested in trying it out between the three ink tanks we can use in game and all the gadgets that can come with them.
Maws hide in ink and stage surprise attacks from below. The Maws of the Spirhalite Islands have strong plating on their undersides too, so try to hit them in the back instead.
No making a Maws swallow a Splat Bomb now, especially since you can't use them now in Splatoon Raiders. Got to stick to old-fashioned shooting it until you splat it.
This creature has two large wing-like appendages. We...think it's a Salmonid, but we're not entirely sure. From the only reference materials we've been able to obtain, all we can deduce is that it is extremely violent.
I'm wondering if it is some sort of King Salmonid or something that we'll learn more about when the game comes out. Maybe what led to Deep Cut's helicopter crashing when they first approached the islands...
Scrappers are Salmonids that charge forward on vehicles with attached shields. If you attack the shield, it might malfunction and stop them in their tracks. While they work on repairs, you can circle around behind them to attack.
Always love the Scrappers being one of the more easier Boss Salmonids to splat, as long as you're in an open area where you can flank around them without being hit by their ink while they're stalled out.
