It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the second issue of the Archie Sonic zine ‘Sonic Ever After’ is here! Looking for something to fill the empty hole in your heart that Archie Sonic left? Need entertainment while waiting for a new issue of IDW Sonic? Look no further!
Check out Sonic Ever After! An Archie Sonic fan zine hosted by @salsacoyote
The zine is 30 pages and is filled with art, games, and more!
The beginning features commentary from the admin herself, as well as an eight page story adaptation of “Baking Bad”, a story that was scheduled to be released last year. For optimal viewing opportunities, the comic portion is also available to read on DeviantArt for easier viewing and commenting options.
The zine is available for digital download on Gumroad at absolutely no cost! (But donations are highly appreciated) If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas, send me a message on this blog, @salsacoyote, or on DeviantArt.
The deadline to submit art or writing to the Sonic After After zine is only two weeks away! (April 20th)
If you’re interested in seeing your work in the zine, please tag me, or send me links to your work.
If you’ve tried to do this already but I have not responded, please send it again because no response from me means that I have not gotten it.
The Baking Bad comic will also be released one week early on Patreon coming late April! Pledge only $1 to view it, along with other exclusive content before its release!
Is there a specific file format we should use for art?
Not particularly, just use what you normally would to post art online. Typically that would be .jpeg images, but most other popular files should work. If they don’t, I’ll be sure to let you know!
Since the story in Sonic Ever After zine two is “Baking Bad”, It’d be cool to have a fun recipe for readers to try.
If anyone has a recipe (preferably a dessert) that they’d like to share for the zine, please send it my way. The recipe does not have to be Sonic related, but should be relatively easy.
I’ve changed the preferred method of submitting artwork or writing to the zine, which will hopefully make it more accessible for other people, as well as myself.
Upload the work directly to your Tumblr (or other social media) as if you were just posting your work. Tag me in the desired post, or send the post or post link to me via Tumblr messaging.
I’m having some privacy issues, so this should clear some things up. Thanks!
Question! If we draw something specifically for the zine can we still post it outside of the zine? Like on our personal blog? This is my first time doing one of these so I’m not completely sure how it works.
When you draw something for the zine, you can post it anywhere you like! It’s still your art, so you reserve all the right to share it as you wish. :) As the admin of the zine, I actually post a small fraction of my *own* art from the zine on DeviantArt, just so more people can see it, and I encourage others to do the same. Plus, it’s great publicity. Thanks so much for your interest! ^^~SalsaCoyote
I’ve been getting a few asks saying that the links to the rules and FAQs were being unreliable, so here’s an outside post containing all of the information so hopefully that’ll make things easier for everyone.
Rules:
Submissions can relate to either pre or post SGW, but should not relate to IDW Sonic. Archie Sonic only, please!
Submissions must be appropriate, not exceeding PG.
Please make art neat and presentable. Nothing messy, blurry, low res, etc.
If you are submitting writing, please proofread and edit it beforehand!
Ship art is okay as long as it’s appropriate.
No OCs or fan characters please.
Crossovers are okay as long as they feature Archie Sonic characters.
FAQs
What is a Zine?
A zine is handmade magazine for a niche audience with a collection of art, stories, and articles.
What gave you the idea to start this project?
It all started last year when I was pretty bummed out about the fact that the Archie Sonic comics were going to be cancelled, when the series was such an integral part of my childhood. Jokingly, I said that maybe I’d start something to keep the memory alive, and thus, SEA was born!
How much art/writing can I submit?
You can submit as much art as you like! However, I’d like to limit writing to one submission per person since it takes up quite a bit of space and is difficult for me to format.
Does the art I submit have to be new?
Any old art you have will be accepted. It could be made, yesterday, or last year, as long as it follows the rules.
Will you continue this project in the future?
I guess so, as long as people are interested.
Is there a set schedule for release?
For now, no. I do this zine in my spare time and since I’m a student, that time is a little unpredictable. However, I try to finish everything in a timely fashion.
I can’t submit art or writing, is there any other way to help and/or support the zine?
Yes! You can reblog the posts to help signal boost, tell your friends, or even make a small pledge on Patreon! Patrons receive exclusive details about the zine, behind the scenes action, and access to zine content before it’s even released!
Hey! The rules and faq don't seem to link they just go back to the blog page. Could you screenshot and post them please?
I received a similar ask about a week ago, and sometimes the links don’t work on mobile. If you try using desktop, you should be able to view them.
I also just tried the mobile links myself, and realized the information isn’t viewable unless you scroll down a bit, which I realize isn’t completely obvious and I apologize.
Obviously a few people are having this problem, so I will queue a post to prevent any further confusion. Thanks for your interest!!
Hi! I'm not sure I am being led back to the FAQ and rules on your latest post about submitting art? When I click on it it just directs to the page but not to the faq/rules.
Hmmm, that’s strange.
Try clicking these links instead and see if it works. Rules | FAQs
What you can also try is going to the Sonic Ever After page on a computer rather than mobile, and click on the drop down menu that says “pages”, and select FAQs or Rules. If the problem still persists, let me know and I will make a post about it.
It’s time for the long awaited return of the “unofficial official” Archie Sonic zine- Sonic Ever After!
After our first successful run with Sonic Ever After, we are continuing the zine and adding even more awesome content including activities, more comics, behind the scenes content, and even a raffle for some awesome free merch!
And we’d like dedicated fans like you to submit art and or writing to be featured in the new zine!
Details:
Find rules, FAQs, and instructions for submission here! Read the FAQ to learn a little bit more about what a zine is and what it entails.
The zine is “no cut”, which means every submissions I receive will be featured, as long as it complies with the rules. :) Don’t worry about being the best artist or writer, we want everyone to have a chance to shine.
The deadline for submission is April 20th! So there’s plenty of time. Submissions can be new or old. Whether you created it today, last week, or last year, doesn’t matter. As long as it’s Archie Sonic related, it can be featured!
The first Sonic Ever After Zine featured a short comic story drawn by the zine creator, based on the cancelled “Branching Paths” arc that was scheduled to be released last year. This time, the story will be based on.... “Baking Bad”! Based on the short ending story in cancelled issue #294, originally written by Aleah Baker. The comic portion will be eight pages long- a whole page longer than last time, and even feature an Off Panel- just like the good ol’ days! The finished zine will be released for digital download on Gumroad, absolutely free! More details and previews to come in the near future, so stay tuned. Follow this blog, or the blog of the creator @salsacoyote for updates and info.
Portions of the zine will also be posted on DeviantArt for ease of viewing. You can click this link to view the full comic from the first zine, or even download it here.
Can’t submit to the zine, that’s fine! Reblog this post to help signal boost, tag your friends, or even make a small Patreon pledge! Patrons who pledge just $1 or more will have access to work in progress art, will be able to read the comic a full week before its release, and will receive extra entries for the raffle! Sneak previews are already up on Patreon, so make a pledge to gain exclusive access.
if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about the zine, send them my way. Stay way past cool!
How many ideas do you have for this project? As someone who jumped on the Archie Sonic bandwagon with the Post-SGW timeline, I'm excited to see this all continue!
So sorry for responding so late. My Tumblr seems to not be alerting me when I get asks. ;_;
As for ideas… I have some, but they come on a case by case basis. I really only think very hard about it when I’m ready to start a new zine. I also take suggestions from people who are interested in the zine. I got a few last time, which is somewhat what shaped my direction for Sonic Ever After 2 (which is coming out soon btw!) If you ever have any ideas, do not hesitate to send them my way! Fans like you are what keep this project alive. :)
